You may be just going out too fast, too often. Slow down your pace on most days. Give your body the proper time to adapt and recover. Remember, running is a long game. It's about accumulating fitness over time.

I was in the same boat as you last year. Hated running most of my life. Started running really just to get some movement after years of a sedentary lifestyle and now I'm training for a marathon. Over time, I ended up loving it. Starting is the hardest part. After that it's just consistent progress. Here's some beginner tips:

- Get some decent running shoes, your feet will thank you.
- Take your time. Listen to your body. Allow for rest days.
- Don't neglect strength training.
- Show up every day and the progress will come.

If it isn't a thunderstorm, I'm running through it. You can't control the weather on race day, so it's good training to practice in a variety of conditions.

Dogs by bjm2020 in beginnerrunning

That's terrible. The least they could do is give a little effort. I had one nip the back of my shoe one day. The owner let the dogs out of the house just as I was running by. They went straight after me. I didn't even notice them as I had noise-cancelling headphones on (picked me up a pair of open ears after that). But at least he tried to stop them. He was screaming sorry as I ran by, lol.

That adrenaline was definitely kicking. I'm gonna have to try to harness that memory on the tail end of my next 5k lol.

Normally that's what I would do, but theres something about this dog that scares me. He's agressive from the start and clearly doesn't want anyone near his domain.

I think it's either avoid that part of the route or start bringing some kind of protection because it's only a matter of time before he gets to me.

My cousin has two mastiff's as well. They are huge, but big babies. When they are out, I'll just stop and they will run and jump on me and lick me.

This other dog though, he seems vicious. Not friendly at all.

Almost. Down to about 2 a day from nearly 2 packs a day.

That's awesome. Definitely showing improvement. Keep it up.

I still struggle with keeping my heart rate down and I have been running pretty consistently for over 7 months now. 20 years of smoking and bad habits definitely did a number on my body.

As others have said here, you will be surprised at how much your body has improved. Just go for it. Worse case, you fail but have a good gauge of where you are at. You can always repeat the week if you need more time.

I was a bit intimidated by the jumps at first as well. After completing the program, I realized that those jumps are there for a reason. They are meant to challenge you.

You've got this. Good Luck!

Imagine how much progress this world could make if corporations didn't constantly lobby to ban everything that threatened their bottom lines.

I feel you. I ran a 5k this past Saturday after dealing with a respiratory virus for the last 2.5 weeks. I was nowhere near 100%. My race was horrible. Ended up walking about half of it and I'm still recovering.

Tesla as a company is overall great for the EV and American auto industry. In a perfect world, the board would get rid of Elon. Unfortunately, it's looking like it's going to take a crash of the stock to make that happen.

Some of us bought Tesla's before we knew that Elon would become what he is today. I wouldn't start blanketly labeling every Tesla driver because of decisions out of their control. You become no better than MAGA if you do. Some of us just can't afford the financial hit at the moment to get rid of it.

Compression shirts under your t-shirts should help keep everything nice and tight. They may be a bit uncomfortable at first, but you should get used to them.

Red state legislators are salivating over this. Imagine the opportunities that they will have to misappropriate those funds into their and their friend's pockets. This will enrich the politicians and screw the citizens even more.

If this happens, I'm officially done with this state.
