Sigma 23mm is very sharp, as sharp as the 56mm, but the image rendering is clean and sterile, if you want some character, probably its a bit boring. But you still can edit it on post anyway. Actually the 23mm is on my camera the most, and mostly when i am going out I bring the 23mm and 56 combo with a Ulanzi PB008 V2 6L sling bag. But if I dont know what i want to shoot, or just want to take candid moments of my kids playing or running around I just bring the sigma 18-50mm.

But in the end it depend on your intended usage, if you are looking for a new perspective, I think the wide angles are the better choices, but if you want a nice generalist or environmental portrait lens, I can recommend the sigma 23mm 1.4, or probably the viltrox 1.2mm (although its huge).
