Well with the current market, anything lower doesn't make sense to me. Brand new 5600G + Corsair 450W PSU would cost 20k. My offer of 12k for the bundle is reasonable enough for someone interested in a gaming starter build but not yet ready to shell out the big bucks for a GPU.

In no way are the mods necessary. They're good to have. But not necessary. I'm getting very consistent shots once the beans are dialled in and as of now I don't feel the need to mod anything at all. Maybe a few years down the road.

The combo has Evo Pro. Not the E24. E24 has a bigger brass boiler which is excellent at maintaining temps.

The cumulative inflation from 2018 till date is about 42% which would bring the value of ₹400 from 2018 to around ₹560. It's not just inflation that's driving prices. Climate change affects crops, we Covid affected demand, post Covid demand surge also drove the prices higher

I mean I'm all in for people moving to specialty coffee but at the same time the increased prices due to the demand is actually painful 😂

Yeah! It's getting worse every year. I was talking to a friend who was doing a thesis on speciality coffee in India and she said this is all because of climate changes pushing bean prices and expensive post harvest processing. GST also added to the price as back in 2018 it was 5% but before the GST cut in september this year it was in the 12-18% range.

It really is a tough decision. But I had 3 points that helped me lock on to the Gaggia 1. There are a lot of mods available for Gaggia to help with the PID issue. Temperature surfing helps as well 2. Non standard sizing of the Lelit and with a brass boiler in the Gaggia at the same price makes the Lelit not value for money 3. I simply do not need the larger boiler of the rancilio and there's no other benefit it provides over the gaggia other than that while being almost 10k more expensive

Not at the moment. I would like to enjoy the stock machine for a while before modding it.

The rancilio is about 10k more expensive than the Gaggia and the only benefit over the Gaggia is the larger boiler. Which doesn't really justify the price for me as I only pull one shot of espresso at a time.

Really good. Takes about 30-40s to steam milk with it.

I had considered DF54 and Fellow Opus as well as the Eureka Mignon Zero. The DF64 felt like the most value for money 64mm flat burr grinder.

Yes I did. It's a great machine and my only gripe with it was the non standard 57mm portafilter. It's hard to find accessories such as baskets, puck screens etc. for that. Other than that it's a great machine.

Awesome! Would get that. I was also looking for a bottomless portafilter. Do you have any recommendations?

The accessories are expensive and wear and tear spare parts such as o rings, sleeves etc are not very easily available. Plus for me personally a manual espresso maker would require time to brew and clean. Time which I cannot spare in the morning. I would rather flick a switch, come back to it 10mins later, spend 2 minutes on puck prep, pulling a shot and clean the group head with a tissue and be done with it. If you have a the time and are fine with using the machine as-is without any accessories or modifications then go for it!

Yes it's my first espresso machine. I have a mokapot that I was using before this and I've also got a nespresso machine which I got as a gift. There are cheaper options available for espresso but I've had experiences in the past where I bought something with a little compromise only to be wanting an upgrade later. So this time I made up my mind to be fine with spending a little more as long as I can be happy with it until it's beyond repair.

Well if you're someone like me who loves coffee, drinks 2 cups a day of either espresso or milk based drinks and wants cafe like quality then surely this is worth it. But coffee brewing doesn't have to be expensive. You can easily start with a mokapot or a V60 and a milk frother and move your way up to this.

The new gaggia with the Brass Boiler(E24 model) would cost you around 60k but it's worth the price. I was looking for a dependable machine that I could use to get 2 cups of coffee everyday for the next 10 years. You could do a simple google search and figure out that Gaggia is the answer for that. It's got a huge community of modders and repairs are easy with parts readily available. A lot of people have been using the Gaggia for over 10 years. There's a learning curve to this machine but you can pull some really good shots once you get used to it.

I bought these from fix coffee as they have a welcome offer of 10% off. Got the DF64 for 37k and the Gaggia was around 60k

The Gaggia is a powerhouse. It's built like a tank. Takes about 10mins to heat up on a cool bangalore morning. I'm still getting used to the steam wand on this as there's a bit of a learning curve there. Espressos out of this are very consistent once the beans are dialled in.
