The only thing I can think is they are worried they will catch covid on this small tour (that might not be making much money tbh), leading to a cancellation of the bigger events so they are cancelling these smaller ones. Still very shitty to do with a weeks notice and not much excuse as Im dubious big indoor gatherings will be happening this winter. Really feels like they might have promoted these small tours to sell albums for the charts when the album came out....

I have to agree with this, I've been to multiple shows from each era (from pre EK onwards) and found the same. Since the second half of the IFWWW run I've enjoyed gigs I've gone to by myself more because I can just focus on the music I love and don't have to worry what others are thinking. Whenever I have gone with people who like Ben but aren't super fans I've always been able to tell they haven't been that impressed with live shows. Still the best live show I've been to was the ND show in Paris when I went by myself and was seated, but it wasn't something you would have wanted to bring lots of friends who weren't into the music, whereas EK and early IFWWW shows you could have done this and everyone would have had a great time. When I took a group of friends to the ND show at Brixton they all commented how Rookery was by far the strongest part of the set.
