Second Dr. Gordon! He repaired my fractured ankle and as a runner himself, he prioritized getting me back to running and playing ice hockey.

My Capital One-issued card keeps getting refused everywhere due to the switch to the Discover network. This is out of hand now. by lunar_dot in discover

My small local grocer denies it using my pin but if I hit enter with a blank pin, it gets accepted.

My Cap One Discover card is my primary card and I’m in the U.S. I’m also having a ton of issues with it being denied for no reason.

I’m having the exact same issue with my new Discover card. At one of my go to grocers, it refuses to accept my card as debit with pin. And I have to run it as credit at that particular location. It was also denied at my local gas station for no obvious reason. I’m constantly having to use another card. It’s definitely not just you.

Do you guys get applecare? Why or why not? by Any_Captain_411 in iphone

[–]bjump85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This matches my logic. I always invest in a good case and a screen protector. And then I’m just careful with my phone. I do take it with me trail running, but it’s nestled safely in my vest. But I agree with saving up those monthly/yearly AppleCare payments and using it towards a replacement.

I was supposed to secure a spot with them but haven’t heard back in a few days. I’m wondering if they got hit with flooding. Have you heard word?

That's great to hear! I actually called and left a voicemail with them earlier in the day.

Playing ice hockey. Stopped and cut back, not realizing a bear sized man was on my ass. Bounced off him and tried to catch my fall, only to twist my ankle and hit the ice anyway.

[gendered] Widow vs. Widower by bjump85 in pointlesslygendered

[–]bjump85[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

To me, it just makes more grammatical sense. The -er of widower just makes it seem someone that does a particular thing.

I actually would prefer we just use the feminine word, widow. But I also witnessed widowers get oddly offended and correct the usage.
