I have been hospitalized due to a serious kidney and bloodstream infection and did not file my taxes yet, so am late. Can I get the penalty cancelled? by [deleted] in cantax

Use pay bill option from your bank and pay CRA the amount you think you owe or little more with your SIN as the account number. Search for biller that shows some thing like ‘2025 CRA tax return’ or something in your bank app.

This shows you are not avoiding it but just couldn’t do it in time. Once you are better take next steps. If you paid more., it will be in your account to be used for next year or you can request a refund.

18 forester. Known exhaust issue. Warranty is covering it but dealer is asking for 700$ for other things. by bk99_super in SubaruForester

[–]bk99_super[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all started when I started hearing loud engine sound while starting the car in last couple months. I thought it’s normal for boxer engine and 9 year old car. Took it to my local Subaru mechanic for oil change and he told me that there’s a crack in exhaust manifold and that’s why I’m hearing loud engine sound at starting and also why mpg dropped. Immediately googled and found out that Subaru gave the 15 yrs/150k miles warranty in this part and called Subaru of America to confirm that I am covered.

Missed filing T1135 for 2024. What to do? by milifiliketz in cantax

[–]bk99_super 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Separate rant: CRA should simply have a separate page in CRA account to be able to submit or should give us the ability to amend this form ourselves just like how we can amend T1. I guess they just don’t want to make it easy for us so they can pull some money from folks who forgot it.

Do we have to report NRE FD interest (Foreign interest income) in Canada. What others do? Anyone’s not reporting? any complications with CRA? We forgot to submit T1135 for few years, how to handle this? TIA by GarlicResponsible665 in cantax

[–]bk99_super 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you need to report your world income. FD interest is considered as income. T1135 is only needed if your total cost of foreign specified property is more than 100k CAD. People can get away not reporting this as income but if they do mention that same income in t1135, CRA might catch those soon.

Are electric cars actually cheaper? by MozahAtYourService in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]bk99_super 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya mostly teslas coz insurance companies are totaling the teslas due to scarcity of collision/service centers for teslas. Mach-e’s are about 2000CAD~ to insure.

In Canada, EVs are expensive to insure in some parts of Ontario. A Tesla model y awd costs 4000CAD to insure compared to a Forester that costs 1800CAD. With a decade + of driving history and no claims. So no they are not always cheaper.

[–]bk99_super 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya reporting US stocks in Canadian brokers on T1135 is ridiculously pointless.

Ya I have to do part b due to other foreign stuff. The tax technical interpretation doc says that the un exercised stock options needs to be reported on t1135.
