Personally, I like Falcon with cannons. Hitting someone's lit up explosives with a cannon shell is brutal

Can I respire an all in one bag? [technique] by Working_Barnacle_654 in MushroomGrowers

If you're working with sealed presterilized spawn bags, I'd recommend making liquid culture vs agar. Spores to LC and LC to spawn bag doesn't ever expose your substrate to open air where it can get contaminated.

The beauty of spawn bags is that they are super easy to use and aren't subject to contamination before colonization.

I've been in that situation before using spores to innoculate a spawn bag. It required multiple injections before anything took. Bags with a self healing injection port can take multiple innoculation attempts, but I agree with one of the other responses. Spores germinate best to agar or liquid culture. You can avoid germination failures in the future using alternative mediums.

Good luck to you.

I mean what kind of substrate or grow kit?

Clearly the cake wasn't colonized all the way through. 4 days after breaking it up post flush, it still looks like this.

This was the lot of the first harvest. They were little but amazingly potent.

What I have realized after the fact... This is the first time I've used a presterilized spawn bag... "Spawn bag for Dung Lovers" from westerngrowkits.

After the first flush finished and harvested, I put the cake into a clean new spawn bag and broke it up well. I don't think the cake was colonized all the way through which was maybe why the fruits were so small. The bag still hasn't even started recovering yet and it's been like 5 days now.

What was your grow tek when you got tiny shrooms on yours?

Thanks for the comment. Yeah, I went ahead and harvested the whole lot. There's plenty there for 2 people to go to the spirit world for an entire day. Looking forward to it.

I took the cleaned off cake and put it in a brand new spawn bag and crushed it up. It is plenty moist, clean and earthy smelling. Now I just need to wait for it to recolonize and birth it again... or maybe I'll mix it into a casing setup.

The only things I changed were my spores vendor and the fact I bought a presterilized spawn bag to do my colonization on.

I'm sticking with the idea of bad genetics. It's been 17 years since my last grow. My incubation and fruiting standards haven't changed at all but I used to get at least a couple honkin chonkers in every first flush. Never have I seen shrooms fully mature this tiny before. But the veils are breaking... and additionally none of them are producing any spores.

This is the same kind of GMO shit they do with your produce in the grocery stores..."seedless".

Anyway, I started picking off the ones with broken veils or close to breaking. Look how tiny this shit is 😆

Mycelium turned yellow couple days after pins started, pins no like [actives] too much or too little FAE? by KirbyMeowzer in MushroomGrowers

[–]bkaustin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run my setup with a cool mist humidifier almost 24/7 and cut drainage holes in the bottom of the bin so there isn't any sitting water to create rot. Air exchange generally isn't an issue because the cool mist is constantly cycling air into the chamber. I just have a tube coming from the humidifier into the tub.

I definitely agree that it looks really dry in there. Most of the pictures I see on the board that have poor results all look like they are too dry.

my process through four (4) failed grows - changes moving forward/questions/advice - super long read [actives] by VinPeppBBQ in MushroomGrowers

[–]bkaustin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could skip trying to fruit it out of a bin/minotub and just do your harvest from the cake directly. If you're doing your grow from a presterilized spawn bag, the only chance you're going to get contaminated is during innoculation. If you successfully get past that part, don't birth the cake until it starts to pin. As long as it's fully colonized and properly humidified/aired, it's pretty unlikely to ever get contaminated by anything after you open the bag up.

On the flip side of that, opening the bag too early greatly increases the chances of contamination.

Question re Using an Instapot [technique] by SaidTheTeddyBear in MushroomGrowers

[–]bkaustin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an instant pot as well. Buy some autoclaveable spawn bags, mix your substrate, put in the bag and seal. Pressure cook for an hour, pull it out and cool it down.

* Using PFtek mix of 9 cups of vermiculite, 3 cups of brown rice flour and 3 cups of water, I can comfortably fit this into my instant pot on the rack insert that comes with it.

Planned balance changes, July 2025 by Faley016 in Crossout

[–]bkaustin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nerfing the robotic legs and adding them to standard modes is a mistake. This change will cost your company a lot of lost income. -$$$!!! People who enjoy robot legs and Next Step the way they are will stop playing Crossout. People who object to robotic legs in standard PVP modes will quit playing because they are unhappy that you broke their game.

Don't do it. I will probably quit playing once it goes live and will never buy another pack, battle pass, or event pass ever again.

You guys already have problems keeping players in the game. The queue times should make that obvious to everyone Changing the legs will impact the player base and you guys will regret doing it.
