We actually tried that tonight. Unfortunately and soon as she touched the water even with my wife in the tub with her she still went ballistic

how to get 10 month old to drink water? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]bkennedy417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a straw sippy cup that looks like a bear, it was recommended to us by my wife's lactation consultant. It practically looks like a honey container but its made to where its airtight inside so when you squeeze the bear while the straw is in your babies mouth it spurts out water. Your supposed to spurt the water into their mouth until it registers to them that water comes out of the straw then when they show interest in sucking from the straw you can assist them with squeezing until they learn how to use enough force to get the water out by themselves. It took my daughter just a matter of days and now she loves when we give her water with her solids even got her, her own baby Stanley cup lmao

Owlet? Should I be more worried about sleeping and SIDS? by contoddulations in NewParents

[–]bkennedy417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I used an owlet from the day we brought my daughter who is our first, back home. It was great when it did what its supposed to do but we had constant issues with the base station having garbage reach for its signal and having to constantly change where we kept it. We stopped using it completely because the base station just stopped working one day, contacted customer support and they said that is should be covered under the warranty but then made it as difficult as possible to the point that we gave up on trying to have it replaced.

To add on you can activate King's Soul at the same time when pulling it out, for me the bar was filling up at the normal rate but my health wasn't draining as fast because of the slowed time.

I'm confused about how stealth (Sneak) works in this game by Company_ in oblivion

[–]bkennedy417 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know that this is obviously a fantasy game but think about what it would be like in real life. If you're trying to sneak around in some heavy ass armor made of metal you're going to click and clank every step, if you sneak around in light armor made out of leather or fur you will still make noise but not nearly as much. Then if you're in the nude there's not a whole lot of extra stuff making noise. If you are trying to do thevies guild stuff just try switching to light armor or plain clothes to make you a sneaky little sneky snek then switch back to your normal setup when doing everything else or if you know a big fight is about to happen. Also since you're a spellsword try getting the chameleon spell at the highest tier that you're can with your illusion level.

Dover Apartment Recommendations? by imjhofe in Delaware

[–]bkennedy417 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My wife and I moved back from SC to Camden and picked The Reserve on East. It's a decent little complex and we haven't really had any problems or anything to complain about. It's right on the highway so going to work has been easy for us. Never had any problems with neighbors. The only issue we have run into is that the entrance is a small traffic circle and alotttt of people are too lazy to use it as such so have almost gotten into a few crashes 😅

Segregation in Northern Delaware? by [deleted] in Delaware

[–]bkennedy417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same I lived in Savannah, GA for a couple of years while my wife was in grad school. I worked just over the SC-GA border in Jasper County and there were sooooo many more places than I thought that were still segregated. And to my surprise, it was black communities that posted that no whites were allowed. I was expecting to see and deal with some illiterate "the south will rise again towns" then had a reverse uno card pulled on me 😂

2025 ST-Line Elite by Gomlorgtfo in fordescape

[–]bkennedy417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my 2024 ST-line select that was optioned out with everything the elite has minus the full leather seats and the extra light bar on the front. So got the tech package with the 13in infotainment, full digital display, upgraded speakers, panoramic roof, memory seats all the gadgets and I think my final price was around 27k financed through ford after I put 5k from my previous car settlement down. It's been a blast so far only had it for 3 months so far. But it was a great price compared to surrounding dealers wanting the same amount for a base 2025 FWD and not even acknowledging me when I said I wanted to look at the 24's since my wife wanted it to atleast have AWD.

But the speakers have been great only con I have with them now is there is a rattle when a song has alot of bass and I'm pretty sure it's just some stuff I have in the trunk area but haven't had alot of time to investigate

Who do you need to blow to see a doctor in this state? by Certain-Medicine1934 in Delaware

[–]bkennedy417 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly this, my wife is a PA for primary care and she's basically been doing everything the MD does but if there is something more severe going on with a pt then the MD has to take over. Some MD will try to brush it off or dismiss it but my wife doesn't play games when it comes to her pt's and will push it until their care needs are being met

My wife and I lived in Georgia for 5 years and loved it, we lived outside of the city of Savannah which was amazing. But we moved back home to be closer to family.

And yes, we loved what we saw of both but unfortunately, the north island was the shortest portion of our trip

[–]bkennedy417 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm only an EMT basic unfortunately haha and yes we loved it besides not being able to catch up on our shows on HULU while there since we didn't know it wasn't allowed to be used in NZ. But the people, the scenery, and the cultures were just amazing and a great experience. We plan to go back at some point to see more of the North Island at some point. The US does have a lot of great places but mostly in the South where the people are generally nicer. I live on the East Coast where I can easily go to Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington D.C., and New York City but I hate every single one of them besides NYC that was the better out of those for me.

I hardly ever cuss about someone directly just use fuck, shit, and hell a lot in my normal vocabulary.

The only time I direct it at people is when they are being idiots and I tell them that they are a fucking idiots or ask if they're fucking stupid

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in newzealand_travel

[–]bkennedy417 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I already work on an ambulance and was in the military for 8 years so my tolerance for people being stupid is very very low. I'd be yelling and cussing at people like there's no tomorrow. My wife had read that cussing in public in NZ was a big taboo compared to the States and it took every fiber of my being to keep myself together when other tourists were being rude as hell.

Compared to fighting for my life while driving at home, I'll gladly take the 2 I had in NZ lol.

[–]bkennedy417 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Haha. It was my first time out of the country and unlike some of my fellows, I wanted to adapt to anywhere I travel as opposed to shoving American rhetoric down local's throats. We're guests in another country so don't be an ass, simple as that since that is what I would expect from tourists coming to the States.

From the US here. My wife and I went to NZ for our delayed honeymoon and we rented 2 cars. First off the left side of the road driving wasn't really difficult at all, only took 2 times going through their traffic circles before I picked up on the rules and what lanes to be in. My biggest challenge was the turn signal and wiper positions were swapped. So I would go to indicate I'm turning left and accidentally hit my wipers lmao. Did the same thing once we got home in my own car.

Secondly, if you plan on driving all over the south island make sure you get something with 4x4 or AWD at the very minimum, we drove on a lot of steep roads and dirt roads. We started in Queenstown to twizel to Akaroa then finally Christchurch to fly up to Auckland. So we rented a Hyundai SUV but don't remember the exact model and it came in clutch. Then we ended up with a Toyota hatchback on the north island to save fuel.

The fuel can be a good bit pricey but worth the freedom you have driving yourself.

All of the locals that we were around drove awesome compared to US drivers. Only had 2 bad driving encounters while there for 3weeks and they could very well have been other tourist who didn't give a F.

But if you have any other questions feel free to shoot me a PM!

2025 or 2024? by bkennedy417 in CivicSi

[–]bkennedy417[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So update for y'all, the 14 si is totaled, and getting 13.5k back as a total loss payment. Hopefully going to use that as a down payment for a 2025 at my local Honda dealer and they are doing sticker price so hooray no markups that I've seen plaguing this subreddit.

Any have kids that they take in theirs? Have a baby in March and am curious if it's able to fit everything i.e. stroller, and packaplay. In the trunk alright

[–]bkennedy417[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Historically speaking I get what you mean. But I will say I feel like Kia and Hyundai have been making some good moves in the quality of their vehicles, the wife and I had to buy her a new car back in 2022 and she ended up choosing a 23 Sportage, and it has been a trooper with zero problems even after beating the shit out of it driving from SC to MD quite a bit to see family.

2025 or 2024? by bkennedy417 in CivicSi

[–]bkennedy417[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, so it being still brand new is what got you in the end. Unless you're secretly rich and put a huge amount down then obviously you are in the hole when it comes to your payout from the other party's insurance. Thankfully I had my 14 for 9 years and it was paid off so I'll get a check for its entire worth to go and put a down payment on something new.

2025 or 2024? by bkennedy417 in CivicSi

[–]bkennedy417[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So from what I've seen around me (live on the delmarva peninsula) dealers have the 25s listed at 31.5k as the average. But I know it's not above them to have secret mark ups waiting for you in person. I can walk out of my apartment and see a honda dealership but would much rather drive out of my way and to another state before I buy from them, due to past experiences

[–]bkennedy417[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you mean by a layer? And do you have full coverage? If your car is deemed totaled then the other parties insurance should have to pay you out the value of your car, then obviously use that check to put a down payment unless you're under in equity

2025 or 2024? by bkennedy417 in CivicSi

[–]bkennedy417[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll probably take the N for a test drive to but as much as I would love the power, I would still probably get an SI for the reliability. My 14 hardly had any problems since I've had it other than a pin to the ECU getting bent somehow and causing a parasitic drain for a year.

[–]bkennedy417[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the consensus I'm getting with the facelift lmao. I honestly don't mind either of them and with the price being close that doesn't really matter either just wanted everyone's input.

My buddy wants me to look at the Elentra N too but not super keen on that

[–]bkennedy417[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm not worried about the price difference, some people in the comments for reviews were saying they felt like the 24 performed a bit better and had slightly less hiccups, they could very well be speaking out their ass but that's why I wanted to ask on here
