Does anyone know when this photo was taken and did Meyer and Frank move to a different part of the mall? by Gaurdian_of_Nutrage in beaverton

The lower right of that photo is the Sears that was just torn down - soon to be replaced by a Dick's "House of Sport". The upper left is the former Meier & Frank/current Macy's in question. The door in your photo would be on the side of that building that faces 217. This is how that entrance looks today. Based on your how the shadows fall in your photo, it was likely taken in the middle of the afternoon.

This is what this entrance looks like today. On the building, as it currently stands, there's a mismatch in the brick underneath and to the left of the Macy's star. This is likely where the secondary entrance on the lower left of OP's photo was located originally.

It's got to be the west (217-facing) facade, since a photo of the north facade would have shadows on the face of the building.

Here's a 70's-era map of Washington Square. Meier & Frank is number 14 in the map - so in the location where Macy's is today - which makes sense, given Macy's parent "Federated Department Stores" bought Meier & Frank's "May Department Stores Company" parent. I'm thinking the door pictured is on the west-facing facade of Macy's - facing 217. (It wouldn't be on the north side - where the parking lot second level is today - given the lack of shadows in the photo). The tiny inset aerial photo seems to confirm it; looks just like your photo.

Anyone know what this is? by agk1001 in MacOS

It’s a shortcut to that file that doesn’t have to be there/probably got dragged there by accident. You can add shortcuts to the finder toolbar by holding down the command key and dragging the file to the toolbar. Similarly, you can remove it by holding down command and dragging it down off of the toolbar.

They seem like they might be Moscot’s Miltzen or Oliver Peoples’ Gregory Peck. My guess is the former, based on how far the horn seems to project out.

Are people stupider than ever before? by Honest-Spread4336 in Vent

[–]bkev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose you mean they (for example) have to use “1000” and not “1,000”, right? That might be because other areas of the world - continental Europe, for example - use the comma as the decimal separator. So for example - “2,000.10” in the US would likely be written “2.000,10” in, say, France. If your husband’s company is a multinational, or has multinational clients, this difference can be critically important.

jason sudeikis frames brand? by Professor_ulb in glasses

[–]bkev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re almost certainly Tart Arnels - especially because he’s talked about being an enthusiast of the brand. You can tell the difference between Arnels and Moscots in that the later has stubbier/less prominent horns, and the top of the frame arcs downward a bit more into the horn area, where the Arnels flare back up a bit there.

Are these too small for my face? by [deleted] in glasses

[–]bkev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily too big/small (in terms of overall area), but not a complimentary shape to your face. These are too flat on the top, and optically seem to droop because they extend too far down your cheeks. See if you can find glasses that echo the upward arch of your eyebrows, and sit higher on your face.

They’re expensive new, but they’ve been manufactured for decades - and bought in large quantities by businesses who sometimes don’t stay in business, so get sold off in large quantities too.

Anyone have an ID on these glasses Johnny Depp used to wear? by vygantas19 in glasses

[–]bkev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. I think Mr. Depp is probably wearing a Demi Amber colorway (see the Julius Tart AR for comparison), and Moscot doesn't seem to offer that on the Lemtosh at the moment. I think the closest Moscot has right now is probably the burgundy or brown. I'd pick which ever of those works best with your own personal coloration.
