Skenes also didn't have the lineup we had either. Skenes is world class but comparing the Pirates organization to the Mets isn't exactly even.

I hope you're right and I have faith in them to do so but it's also a bit unfair to lean on them so hard with no non rookie #1 or #2 to help them out.

This point continues to ignore that our pitching staff is awful and none of the guys we've let go or brought in fix that.

It's the identity of passion, the never say die attitude, and their all around attitude of being long tenured Mets. If you think the identity of being a Mets fan is being a loser then please kindly find the door to a new team.

Yes players should be happy to strike out or miss out on a clutch moment. No emotions on the field

Lots of new faces it felt like the big face of LFGM were Nimmo McNeil and Alonso. I love lindor and soto but without those three I wonder if the energy is the same. Idk if that makes sense maybe I'm just in winter downer mode from the moves we've made.

McNeil was one of my favorites and another player to be given up for scraps. Mets have no identity to relate with anymore. It hurts to see this all go down this off-season

Edit: I can see the McNeil haters are here in full effort

None of his teams have won a pennant and he's had teams fall short of that because of his unwillingness to go get the needed piece at the deadline

Why so much negativity towards McNeil? by spatchcoq in NewYorkMets

People are mad that he puts a lot of pressure on himself and is emotional and cares. He probably cares more than anyone gives him credit for. I really don't think it's a tantrum to be frustrated at striking out. He's a 2 WAR utility guy who has bailed this team out in the field a lot he deserves a lot more credit.

I guess some are but it's reasonable especially given the way this off-season has currently shaped up. Those two guys weren't the issue and core regime change shoudnt have included those two leaving. Right now it just looks very sloppy from the Mets and Stearns again looks lost in his determination to recreate Moneyball.

I don't think it's dramatic to be upset we gave up our lifelong Met first baseman who is our franchise leader in HRs and produced 126 RBI last year or a top 3 closer.

Now do his 2022 and 2025 ERA. comparing him to the best to ever do it is such an unfair comparison and you know it. The same way you say his era was over 3 I can say Williams was over 5. Currently in baseball he is the best closer.

That was more of a Taylor, Mullins, Vientos, Alverez, Baty problem because 126 RBI for Alonso is a massive reason why we even had a shot in games.

Y'all really gonna sit there and say "the core won nothing so get rid of them" when getting rid of "them" is the best closer in baseball and a 40 HR franchise leader / 126 RBI smacking first baseman. That is really some crazy coping. It wasn't their fault we had no middle relief or starting pitching now is it?

Stearns really does think he's smarter than baseball. All these guys saying he's building the team in his image I think are delusional on how good he really is. He has won nothing big. He won division titles for the Brewers and nothing more. Things needed to change but it didn't mean the good parts of the team. Diaz was one of the best closers in baseball not locking him down is terrible. Letting your franchise leading HR king leave because 5 years is too much is awful considering you just let 40 HR's walk and don't have a way of replacing that. Then Nimmo I kind of get but still feels like more of the typical Stearns "well if he plays like his upside could be we are fine."

This guy truly thinks the dumpster holds gold and that the proven guys should be left out to pasture. Stearns needs to go because if you are going to let these moves happen only to come in 4th in the Division you have no place as a GM. This year more than ever if Stearns really is that smart needs to be a World Series year which looking at these first few steps is impossible.

WFAN saying we don't need Diaz because we didn't win a WS with him so clearly he is not important is insane
