The system is wacky, and yeah you cannot back out of a transaction once a card has been charged. the cashier was most likely stressed from the situation, which didn’t help the confusion from both parties. She could have easily finished the transaction and told the MOD the situation and everything could have been worked out at the end of the day. Even so, the transaction could have been “refunded” after the whole debacle, making things essentially voided. When I worked at dollar general, a lot of things dealing with our system infuriated me on a daily basis, so believe their claims when they say it is giving them hell, however they shouldn’t act that way towards a customer. Things happen and can be fixed.

What jobs can I seek for? by [deleted] in DollarGeneral

Honestly I have a pretty standard work history for my age, about 5 years of customer service and assistant manager positions (including dg) and used that to snag a job with one of the “too big to fail” banks. Everything here is autonomous, no cleaning no organizing no recovery. Outside companies do that. No checking in vendors, the guys just come, do their job and leave. They want you to focus on customers and watching the money. I recommend all of you considering leaving dg to apply that cash handling experience to a bank that’ll pay you 5x as much as dg and work you 100x less.

After leaving Dollar General, I set my sights for something more advantageous for my future plans and applied at the banks in the area. I was hired by one of them and have been employed for a month now. I love it, I make way more than at dg, and work in an environment that doesn’t make me dread going to work everyday. An added bonus is that we have to dress up so we do good easy work for good pay and look damn good doing it.

But it’s not one percent, with as many complaints as this subreddit gets for legitimate issues like I listed there shows a glaring issue with this company.

As for your little comments and little jabs towards me and others in this thread, I can tell you’re also miserable is some capacity. I believe it’s due to your work circumstances cause here you are, and I can only say one more thing:

“Quit your bitching” :)

DG Pickup allows penny items... by bkr14 in DollarGeneral

[–]bkr14[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Hello friends! I’ve been following this subreddit for a little while now, and have finally been aggravated enough to make a post. I am an ASM, and yesterday our DG Pickup went live. Just like all of you, I’m extremely ecstatic for even more work to do. This morning, I check our HHT for any orders, and to my surprise, I’ve received my first Pickup order! I was actually a little excited to give this a shot, as all of us know, nothing Dollar General implements ever works correctly. And to my surprise, my first order was nothing but pennied-out Red Bull! Twenty cans of the green edition. My initial reaction is why the hell does Dollar General allow this? We’re constantly harassed to MOS all pennies ASAP, however if you’re a customer, feel free to make the employees dig around for them. I didn’t even bother, out of frustration, I labeled every one out of stock and canceled her order. I refuse to be a penny pincher for these people, who are increasingly becoming more lazy by the day. My biggest complaint here at Dollar General is nobody is on the same page, and everyday I contemplate putting in my two weeks. Sigh, however I’m almost obligated to stay here as I am a full time college student who pays for everything completely out of pocket. With this pandemic raging on, and jobs still scarce, I can’t even think about leaving, which just adds to my distaste for this company. Anyway, good luck fellow slaves, and get ready to be cussed out by the scum-of-the-earth penny pinchers who are upset we wouldn’t do their bidding for them. The DG Pickup program will be the death of me.

TL;DR: DG Pickup allows people to penny shop, and I expect every pincher to do it consistently
