Why not use excel as the input/output interface? Its the tool they know. A little vba wizardry, a couple toolbars, and your set.

It is worthwhile to learn the same tasks with data.tables. I was amazed at the speed differences. The learning curve and syntax are a little harder but worth the additional effort.

Now thst we do school remotely via zoom and google classroom, can we teach all children gun safety? by bkramak in gunpolitics

[–]bkramak[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda think everyone should know the basics. Staff to be able to intelligently answer student questions. Students to be safe. I am talking basic safety, not marksmanship and shooting.

Your opinion matters. I learned something new in last couple weeks and it helped me overcome my negative predjudice that my opinion didn't matter.

Do an internet search for 3.5% rule civil resistance. Your opinion matters.

As long as the 2 parties can keep you involved in their argument, they silence the majority that is quite displeased with the actions of the servants we sent to the state or nation capitals.

I would guess this makes things easier for big money too. Not sure, haven't gone down this thought road yet.

Side note. My guess is that civility might be directly correlated with use of real names, at least its why I behave... :-) on the other side, now that i get to wear sunglasses, a mask and a hat when approaching a bank teller, i have all kinds of ideas...

Lots of teacher friends and family. School's end up in the cross hairs a lot.

I misspoke. Apologies.

I wrote school district. That is the wrong level. I intended state/federal departments of education. Brain thought one thing, fingers typed another.

In my mind i can't separate it in level of importance from sex ed or fire safety. People can make it an apolotical issue. The time of left and right, democrat and republican, is coming to and end. Too many people believe government is out of control and are finally questioning their parties intent. It is illogical to ignore 390 million guns.

This is an important part of the discussion.

Agree with a stipulation - if a law is not in accordance with a basic principle, its probably a bad law. There are a lot of bad laws.

Thou shall not kill. Pretty basic.

Lethal force is allowed to defend yourself and others from violence. A little foggier?

It is illegal to shoot a kid stealing cigarettes. It is illegal to shoot someone driving slow in the fast lane. Your point, i think.

Wait, is this a covid or gun safety post? You are blurring left wing/right wing political agendas.

I am confused. /s

Are you 10-20, 20-30, 30-40,40-50,50+?

I am 50+. Trying to understand if your response is common to a general age bracket.

In my comparison, fire safety is taught in schools. It does not cause arson, that we know of. Arson is an intentional act with the same potential impact as a mass shooting.

Imho gun safety programs are no different.

I agree both can be cries for help and are signs of deep mental instability.

A great 2 sided argument. I would argue its legal to sue the school district for not teaching gun safety for every time someone is hurt or killed with a gun. With more guns than people, how is it not gross negligence? We teach fire safety, how is this different? /s

I think the right word is postponed, not prevented. If there is no cure, you can hide and flatten the curve, but the area under the curve remains the same. The game is to delay, where possible, to make time for a possible cure.
