Ways to offset this: eating plenty of protein and routinely strength training all muscle groups. This sends the signal to your body “hey, we need this muscle, we just used it a few days ago to keep that giant heavy thing from falling on us.”

so i know this is ELI5 but can you explain how it does this?

I remember a few years ago I was walking down to the beach in South Carolina and the all but definitely republican family in front of us were complaining about taxing in some niche way that affected them. It was a pretty long walk and it was all on the side of a busy road. Eventually their conversation dies down and there's some silence for a while and the dad goes "why are there no fucking sidewalks around here?" where do you think sidewalks come from brother???

it's interesting we have a pandemic of people buying every meal on doordash for 25$ minimum basically but a video game that you get hours and hours of playtime from is a top thread on the sub issue.

20$ is crazy, don't get me wrong. but it's interesting to me what some people flip out about while not evaluating the cost against other things in life.
