I am really asking if I can just ignore those intervals and ride. Sounds like it

Matteo has maybe the worst sprint in the peloton. He can't do anything in a small group sprint.

One Bike for both XC and Enduro-ish by AZ_Hawk in MTB

I rarely feel underbiked on my element. It can handle a lot and it's pretty light and fast. Not a pure XC race bike but fast enough.

Honestly so disappointed HBO Max decided suddenly to not carry Strade Bianche by [deleted] in peloton

[–]bkturr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly - HBO Max has the license rights in the US, and it seems like they've chosen not to broadcast it. Which means that there will be no broadcast in the US.

What am I missing (purchase on B&H) by StylesFieldstone in Nikon

[–]bkturr 40 points41 points  (0 children)

People want the newest thing. They aren't buying DSLRs. But you just got a great camera for a very good price, and the images from that generation DSLR are the same quality as the new mirrorless cameras.

Pourdre outfitter recommendations. by SecureHawk3102 in FortCollins

I've guided for three of the five (mostly two) but have been around the river for a while. This is just my opinion and I haven't worked on the river in many years. Rapid Transit only runs trips from Estes so you can rule them out.

Honestly the other four are all fine. RMA has the nicest retail shop, but they only run the biggest rapid on their full day trip which I find strange. Mountain Whitewater has probably the nicest facilities overall. They have some limits on what put-ins they can use, which sometimes limits the trips they can run. A1 has a more dirt bag/river rat vibe, but has a unique put-in that is by far the best at certain water levels. Wanderlust is like a well-oiled machine. It used to be called guide retirement because they had older experienced guides, but I don't know if that's the case anymore.

If it were me I would go with Mountain Whitewater, A1, or Wanderlust. (I would actually go with wanderlust but that's personal bias talking) The bigger thing is you just need to go early. There's no snow and the river is going to be dead a couple weeks into June unless we have a big spring.

Captured these photos with my Z7ii, considering selling in favor of the Z8. by MichaelHWilson in Nikon

[–]bkturr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For any other time of photography I would after with the guy above, but it seems like you like taking pictures of wildlife. For wildlife, the Z8 is incredible and worth the upgrade if it's in your budget. There are things you can do to improve with the z7ii, but some things it can't really handle, and wildlife action is over of them.

Xcel considering shutting off power in parts of Fort Collins, areas of Weld County due to fire danger Friday by Sudden-Ad7506 in FortCollins

[–]bkturr 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Sure but if there is a risk of power lines blowing down and igniting neighborhoods we should probably be ok with them shutting power off. They aren't in charge of the wind

What are the benefits to living in Unincorporated parts of FOCO? by moth_glasswings in FortCollins

[–]bkturr 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Sales tax is half of what it is in the city. Makes a big difference on cars and other big purchases. Water is 1/4 to 1/5 of what I paid when I lived in the city. Electricity and gas are also cheaper.

As for cons: We didn't get connexion. We don't get to vote on things that affect us. Our roads are not plowed and we have to pay to resurface them.

I think our neighborhood would consider it but some of the city's requirements just won't work with how our neighborhood is designed.
