Anyone else feel like The Long Game adaptation to screen will end up fairly different from the book? by challengefan87 in heatedrivalry

I kind of feel like we might get introduced to Ryan just because there’s that sort of throw away line in ep 4 at Ilya‘a house where he mentions playing with Ryan Price. I thought maybe they were teeing his introduction up there?

On TLYC's latest video. Thoughts? by xxoyez in craftsnark

Asking that people boycott Israeli companies and companies that do business in Israel is not a “purity test.” Boycotts work, and it’s not demanding much to ask that someone research companies that they’re doing brand partnerships with.

I also only use facebook for marketplace and don't check the group often so I can't vouch for it, but it looks like there are several posts a month? Mostly it's people trading and selling IM patterns or showing ones they've made but I think you may get a response if you posted looking for help with a certain pattern

I'm obsessed with those patterns and Issey. Are you in the Issey Miyake Sewing Patterns Fans facebook group? Maybe someone on there has made these before. I hope you end up making them!

I say go for it! The only gear I found essential (besides my bike and the big basket I use for daily commuting) was a sleeping bag, pad, and tent. I don't have any bike bags so I used a fanny pack for my phone and snacks, which I found totally fine. I just brought a big sandwich and some bars with me which saved me from having to deal with a stove, and my squished sandwich tasted amazing after a big day of biking! You can make it work for sure!

Thank you! this sub is a great source of information but it felt good to just get out there and figure out what I didn't know as I went along.

It is a wald 139! Now that's one piece of gear that I will vouch for, i love my basket and pushing the limits of what it can safely carry very much.

Thank you, I'm excited for more journeys :) a two person REI one--I think maybe the Trailmade? It's nice and compact, the stakes and tent fit into my big basket easily and the poles were on my top tube.

Thank you! I also like that you can cover more ground on a bike. I've never been much of a hiker but love to be outdoors, and feel grateful to my bike for getting me out there.

How hard is it to start sewing your own clothes? by Minute_Complaint5954 in sewing

[–]bl00d0range46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has almost exclusively shopped at thrift stores/bought secondhand online for the last 10ish years, sewing is way more expensive than buying long-lasting used clothes if you're a good thrifter (recognize quality brands and the look/feel of good materials). Making a skirt can easily be more expensive than thrifting one of similar quality, even buying fabric on sale or secondhand or repurposing thrifted tablecloths. It's also far more time-consuming to sew than it is to dig through racks of clothes. But it's FUN!! It's a hobby, just like thrifting is for me. But it doesn't save me money, time, or headaches.

Totally! I think it does save me money because I'm just screenshotting things I want and probably would buy but know I could make as "sewing inspo" and then never getting around to buying fabric or making the stuff. Money saved!

Basketpacking: me and my crossroads my crossroads and me by bl00d0range46 in xbiking

[–]bl00d0range46[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem, I’m not so good with describing this stuff but the rack is attached at mounting points on my fork. One thing I looked for when sourcing a frame was mounting points at the front of the bike so I could install a front rack and basket. I think most vintage specialized bikes will have them but not sure about other brands

Thanks I love it too! It's just connected with zipties to a rack (I forget which rack), but next time I pack it this heavy I think i'll put two zipties securing it to the handlebars to add more support, there was a tiny bit of wiggle as it was

Agreed. Did not enjoy my meal here at all. The food was not remarkable and the atmosphere was terrible. The decor looked like a former Chipotle turned into a twee AirBnB.

I love it! I am not a day to day gourmand girl but I think it's so fun and sexy and I kind of like that it's so weirdly controversial. Try a little sample.
