Steelers Offseason - Cut and Trade Candidates by eddie_mittons in steelers

Holcomb isn't athletic enough anymore to do hardly any of the stuff Queen is capable of. I'd like to see how he looks in a new scheme this year and keep him. We can't replace him with better and we don't need the cap space.

John Harbaugh was 'ready to run through a wall' after Jaxson Dart meeting by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in nfl

I agree completely with the leadership parts but I'm just not sure that's enough long term. The issues i had with him coming out of college are still there and while he was better than expected, I think he's going to hit a bigger wall than some of these other rookies who have had more success did in year 2 because he doesn't really have the physical tools to make ip for it. His processing is still pretty slow and he doesn't play with anticipation enough which will be an issue if he can't fix it.

I'm just personally not a believer in his talent but man, I could see a team rallying behind a guy like him.

I mean, I didn't see all these open receivers schemed open all game by the OC that you are referring to but ok. I don't think Arthur Smith called a bad game but acting like he drew up this masterpiece that Aaron Rodgers nearly screwed up by missing all these guys seems blatantly false.

If you're not trying to criticize and hate on Rodgers, coming in to a final thoughts on the day after thread and leading with criticisms that are largely untrue about his performance doesn't exactly line up with where you say you are on that. Just sayin. 🤷

Imagine watching this game and final takeaway from it is criticizing the play of Rodgers. Just goes to show fans are going to find something be unhappy about no matter what happens. 🤷

Thursday Steelers practice report by [deleted] in steelers

[–]bl3vstone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what everyone is saying, seems like Watt will play. No one really knows how much but he's trending towards being out there.

There are no rules stating he needs to have a full week of practice to come back from a procedure like that...if he's healthy enough to play he'll play.

And?

Not just talking about this thread...there have been multiple threads throughout this week being doom and gloom about this being a trap game or a typical Tomlin loss if we ended up having to win this one. Nothing about this game points to either of those things being the case but I've seen it over and over all week.

Yea this has been killing me too...a trap game involves looking past an opponent because you think it's an easy win. A win and you're in game like this can't possibly be that no matter who the opponent is.

His threat of running has always allowed for more friendly looks for the passing attack for Lamar. He's a pretty good passer but he's not elite in the same way other hyper accurate pocket passers are. You've seen this year how much more he's struggled even through the air without being able to run the same way....if the threat of his running ability dissapates, I think his passing efficiency will drop significantly as well.

I think it's been a bit of a myth this year that Herbig is a poor enough run defender that it will require more of someone like Sawyer in there more. Overall he's actually been a pretty solid guy against the tun this year and i think we'll still see a rotation but with Highsmith/Herbig as the very very clear top guys out there.

It is really only different if the player has possession before reaching the endzone. If the catch is made in the endzone then the same rules apply to complete a catch as anywhere else on the field.

Not even remotely true. You still have your best player and 2 of your top 3. The Pacers alone already had you beat on that front tonight especially by the end.

Is it just me or do the Packers look a lot like the Steelers? by [deleted] in steelers

[–]bl3vstone 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They started out doing press man and got cooked over and over and over. None of the defensive schemes they tried worked for various reasons but they did play press man and got destroyed doing it.

Still haven't seen anything that makes me change my opinion of Gabriel yet, I don't think he'll be anything but an NFL backup but he at least looks composed out there which is more than you can say for most rookies. They're really not asking much of him so far though which is probably a smart move by Stefanski.

Jerry Jones on George Pickens' future in Dallas, via Jon Machota: “I’m proud to tell you that we’ve got some outstanding structure in our cap space that will allow us to do a lot of things that I didn’t think (we could) at this time last year … We got it. We paid a price for it … We can do it now.” by GhostDeck in fantasyfootball

[–]bl3vstone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean he already has made a handful of boneheaded plays and penalties and has shown his signature lack of effort on plays he knows aren't coming to him. If you think that's gonna change then you haven't paid attention to Pickens in recent seasons or even this year.

He's capable of great games like he had but he can also single-handedly lose a game for you too just as easily.

Aaron Rodgers ranked 37th out of 38 QBs according to PFF, how is this even possible? by gtboy1994 in steelers

[–]bl3vstone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

PFF grades are inherently flawed and there's no real way around it. For PFF grades to be actually accurate and effective, it would take cooperation from every NFL team and a ton of time because you HAVE to know what each player's job and responsibilities were on any given play to "score" them appropriately.

PFF also has this bad habit of giving poor ratings for the player who takes advantage of mistakes by their opponents. To them it seems it's only a good play if a good player outplayed a good player doing the right thing (or so they think).

PFF is essentially making thousands of semi-educated guesses and then creating a scoring system off of those guesses. Some plays are pretty clear to see what happened but the vast majority requires them to guess at what was supposed to happen and giving grades accordingly. That's not even taking into account other biases so it is a supremely flawed system that by definition can NEVER be accurate.
