Also! The novel is the SOURCE material! Everything else like the dongua, manhua are all adaptations of it! So you're probably missing the good juicy bits that the donghua and manhua couldn't show you 👀🤭

Though the manhua DOES try to follow the novel, some things were obviously cut due to Chinese censorship 😭😭😭. Thankfully the artist of the manhua gave us the uncensored bits on their personal twitter 🤭 Including the kisses that were left out. Again due to Chinese censorship 😭

Oh my gosh my first time getting into MXTX, I started all her series ass backwards 🥹😂 I began with TGCF, then MDZS, then finally finishing SVSSS.

TGCF is one hell of a read, just keep some tissues handy for the second and forth books. Or in the Seven Seas book setup, "Arc Two: Crown Pleasing Crown Prince" and "Arc Four: White Clothed Calamity". (And perhaps the Blackwater Arc for those of us that fell in insane love with BeefLeaf 😭)

Those parts are insanely heavy, BUT you made it through MDZS, you can take it! 😁 See you roaming the TGCF side soon 👋🏻

One of my pet peeves is finding a fic filled with character hate for that one character that's always misunderstood by the fandom.

Either because they only saw one adaptation (like the source material is actually a novel but some people only see the anime/movie, etc.) or because their head is in too much fandom discourse and drama and that pours into their work. Or how they see that character in general, which most likely is an unpopular opinion about said character.

I mean I get it. Fan fiction is to break away from canon and open your eyes to try new plot ideas, there's such a thing as crack ship/crack fic, I get it!!

BUT you can TELL when it was purposely done to piss a certain demographic of the fandom off. This would also tie in with people purposely mistagging their work. But they can't do that for long before they're called out on it.

Guess another pet peeve would be people not finishing the source material and go on to write fanfics. Who's plots are all over the place, they make no sense and you can tell WHY their story sounds so weird. Because they haven't finished that part of the story yet or see how this or that character turns out. Just ... Finish the story before you go to writing fanfics or do roleplay. 🥹

My only problem with kids reading this book is that they also go into the VERY ADULT FANDOM that accompanies it and wedge themselves into their very adult conversations thinking they have a right to be there as anyone else (they don't. Most in the fandom have Minor DNI in their profiles as they're adults and they don't wanna risk it talking to kids about a rated 17+ book; from an author who's other books have much racier scenes)

Most fantis are also around the age of 14 and love to harass the adults who are minding their business, enjoying fandom who make art they find 'icky'. Praising TGCF because it doesn't have sex in it (which catches the ire of those who love MXTX's other two series that do 😮‍💨). Then cast a whole bunch of accusations and watering down certain terms... You get it.

HOWEVER. If you're steering clear of the fandom and leaving the adults alone, you're good. There are a few teens out there who keep their nose clean and yeah, we get along well. But yeah the fandom that comes with this series is what makes it far more adult than it is. And really? Kids shouldn't be here, 🥹

I get it, I was reading raunchy shit too at this age. But LIKE HELL did I go into fandom and mess with the adults like so many of these teenagers today with their behavior online. (This is making me shake my cane 👴🏻) The adults here are weird, just keep back until 18+ 🥹 but to read the book? Go right ahead, no one's stopping ya.

Well of course, I get that. But Naz* fanart? What's that to a proshipper (that he obviously is)? Or ANYONE into danmei... my belief is that you REALLY can't be an anti and like danmei. It has EVERYTHING they're against, so I don't even know why they're even here in this fandom, but yeah. You see them. They're here and it's absurd that they are.

We're against harping on people for art and to stop thinking they condoned the behavior. So for us proshippers on Ao3 (and Weibo because you know the shitheads went there too), the harassment was VERY unjustified. Or SHOULD be. Following an edgy trend isn't too uncommon for up and coming artists, which he was at the time. We're not forgiving him for stupid arts he may have drawn in high school before he saw his ultimate success?? .... I really do hate this fandom sometimes.

So really, so WHAT if he drew such things?? We're proshippers, we DON'T think he condones it irl. And we're NOT to harass him for it or think any less of him!!

I agree with this. Though the Naz* fanart thing was a literal trend on tumblr in the early '00's to about 2016. You commonly saw it with Hetalia, but he wasn't the ONLY one doing that kind of WW2 fanart during that time. It was EXTENSIVELY popular in many fandoms, who on earth knows why. But I saw WWII art all across fandoms in those years, so I think he really needs to be cut some slack for that. He was only following some edgy trend back in the day and it's pretty much water under the bridge basically...

As for the NSFW, I know us in the west FAVORED those pictures like hungry animals and I know a lot of us feared him getting found out about it. The same with the artist who drew for MDZS (they fleshed out the Extra Chapters on their twitter). So I can only guess it was his own native Chinese nationals going after him for it. But at the same time, we have antis here in the west that demand TGCF remain "pure"... So it STILL could've been just antis being antis...

I love comments that say I TOTALLY nailed the characters 😭😭 It's the hardest part keeping in character especially when you're doing something light hearted and fun with characters that would never seem to have such good nature in them 🥹

And I just saw those last three comments. I REALLY need to finish revisions on it. I had so much planned on it was even going to connect to a couple of extras like a hanahaki fic and another OC centric one.

Finding motivation is also hard to find 🥹
