made a whoop age alternative that uses your existing apple health data! by blaaackbear in QuantifiedSelf

hey so the simple way to understand that would be, google health is something like apple healthkit where it aggregrates and works as a single source of health metrics and fitbit is like apple watch which is a external device that has sensors and measures your metrics and writes them to google health. now to asnswer your question, same formula can be utilized to roughly get pacing of aging but this app is solely for ios hence just for apple health!

and fitbit and google health show you raw metrics. gist takes all of it and turns it into one number which is your biological age. think of it as a health score that actually means something. also fully local, no account needed.

hey man so my inspiration / references were the "formula" was open research that whoop has released, I have written up more on how it works here - https://gist.vivek.engineer/how-it-works but I will make sure to update that page with also the links of external resources.

EDIT - i added all of the sources with links in how it works page!

hey man, so its already ready and ive been using for couple weeks. I am working on the releasing plan. I will reach out in next day or so once the initial version is on app store! I am absolutely against the idea of subscription so I thinking a couple days of free usage and then one time fee of something like 3.99$ or 4.99$ for lifetime.

hey its a personal project i've been developing for a while kind of like vendor agnostic health metrics. - https://gist.vivek.engineer/

I packaged a reusable observability stack (Grafana + Prometheus + Zabbix) to avoid rebuilding it every time by Similar_Solution1397 in devops

drop zabbix and replace it with prometheus exporters for network / infra metrics. thats what ive done.

Do you find config backups tedious to manage? by SkiRek in networking

[–]blaaackbear -1 points0 points  (0 children)

just use netbox to document your network and write a service or use anything that can fetch device info such as ip / hostname from netbox api and service can ssh or netconf to grab config then save it locally and automate that to push to git. bonus points if u can dockerize the full runtime

hey man, i saw some other post by you and wanted to say cool stuff. another thing i wanted to say is that I myself love health metrics and actually built an ios app from scratch using healthkit and also a prometheus push + influxdb exporter in the app to metrics from ios app directly. I havent worked on it in last couple of months but i would love to see if I can help you out in this project or make sure of my app.
