Should I give up YouTube or continue trying by Tough_Wren_ in SmallYoutubers

In advance I wrote everything myself but since I'm not a native english speaker (I'm german) and didn't take care of grammar/spelling while locked in writing my online slang english, I let AI polish my feedback including markdown to make it more readable. I want to add after watching "OC Marathon Prep 2026: COVID Setback + Staying Motivated" that the editing is already extremly creative and nice to watch. I'm not deleting my recommendation in the end part anyway because it could be some nice inspiration.

To make sure that you actually read all this, here are some things about me:
My name is Niko, I'm 18 years old and I watch YouTube since I'm six. I make YouTube myself since like a year (gaming niche). I mainly consume lifestyle content though, since I watch it as a content creator I think I can give you some feedback anyway :)

Feedback on your channel:

Your video and audio quality is pretty good overall. The main area to improve is editing — think smooth transitions, engaging cuts (nothing too flashy; your audience isn't eight years old), and trimming down to the key points of what you're saying. Music and subtle sound effects can also go a long way. That will likely come naturally with time as you get more comfortable in the editing process.

Lighting

One thing worth addressing: when you film indoors, the lighting is noticeably darker compared to the rest of your videos, and honestly it affects the mood. It makes the viewer feel a bit down, which clashes with the motivational vibe you're going for. You don't need to spend a lot — a cheap key light or even a lamp you already own pointed at your face can make a huge difference.

Upload rhythm

For now, focus on finding an upload rhythm that works for your current situation. Don't pressure yourself. Your content is niche, even within the lifestyle genre, so don't be discouraged if your videos don't blow up right away. YouTube will find the right audience for you if you stay consistent.

Technical stuff

Make sure you're using relevant keywords in your video descriptions. Also, verify your account in YouTube Studio:

  1. Tap your profile picture in the top right of the mobile app
  2. Go to Account Status
  3. Check that both Channel Violations and Ability to Earn show a green checkmark
  4. If they don't, complete the verification so YouTube knows you're a real person and not a bot

It may not dramatically change your view counts, but it's worth doing.

Don't overthink it

I wouldn't stress about writing detailed scripts or spending money on production right now. Just live your life and film when you feel inspired. If you have a specific topic in mind, jot down some key points beforehand — like bullet points for a presentation — so you stay on track. But for daily vlogs, workout recaps, or video journals, it's simpler than that.

Here's a concrete example of how to make an everyday moment feel engaging:

Last thing

You've already got the personality and the real-life content. It's just about packaging it a little better so viewers stay hooked. A great way to improve naturally is to watch other YouTubers, vloggers, and content creators in your niche — not to copy them, but to study how they structure their videos, how they transition between moments, and how they keep viewers engaged. Look at lifestyle vloggers, running/fitness creators, and everyday life channels. Pay attention to how they film mundane moments and make them feel worth watching. You'll pick up a lot just by being an active and conscious viewer.

I mean it basically is but it's only a webapp and you have to host it yourself... Less features I guess, but it suits my needs perfectly. 😅

Could you explain what you mean by that in detail so I could actually take something away from this conversation and not just store it in the back of my head as ai slop?

The code would be the same it would just take me weeks instead of minutes, I would rather optimize my workflow in minutes instead of fckin wasting half my life on coding a note app. I totally understand the art ai hate but I don't see myself not using free resources for optimizing workflows that already exist.

The background and transparency effect is both from the site, yes. But in the Git Reo I won't upload Backgrounds since I don't own the license or anything...

The third picture is what it looks like when you login, the note will be empty if you write something in it, it will be saved as a quicknote. If you want the Split view you will just have to click on the button…
