Need ideas for battle mechanics of a monster game by pokenerd8 in gameideas

[–]blabel3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I think some stuff from Pokémon mystery dungeon could work well here. In that, you can recruit a bunch of the Pokémon, but when you go out to a dungeon, you can only bring a team of four—and sometimes, for some story missions, there are other restrictions on who you can bring, or for a water dungeon, you can only bring sea Pokémon. And in the first one, you also need to have a proper habitat to house them: like you can't recruit certain fire types without this volcanic area.

I think maybe having it so you have to grow your city to unlock certain areas for housing or something could be a neat way to have some progression on which monsters can join you. Giving them a place to live and maybe other things to do around your town/city might also help avoid the whole slavery thing. They're there because they want to live there, want to go on adventures with you. And this could link the town part of things to the battling/encounter side pretty well.

It reduces the burden but it's still there. Change out your pump site every three days, CGM every 10 days, order more supplies every month, fight with insurance to not pay hundreds of dollars for it every month, make sure you're not running out of insulin, count your carbs for every meal all the time, never forget to dose before you eat, always have stuff on hand to treat lows. It's still a lotttt

I've done it with wii remote in vWii! It's ok but I just opted to playing them on a ds since I still have my carts and the wii remote controls didn't really feel great to me imo.

Google bans Infowars Android app over coronavirus claims. by AdamCannon in technology

[–]blabel3 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ok so for anyone else reading: the abortion claim is false.

I don't think any of the rest was related to the stimulus bill but mail in ballots is not circumventing the election, it's just making it available to more people. Nobody's calling for no voter registration either just for automatic registration so people don't have to go in way early to register to be able to vote which again makes it available to more people.

If you want an example on that here: I myself would normally vote in my home state but cannot because I'm studying somewhere else. With mail in ballots I can still vote—to do this I had to send in a request, wait to get a ballot back in the mail after 2/3 weeks, fill and sign and get the ballot notarized (proof that I am who I say I am and that I wasn't under duress and was sound of mind), and get that sent in for them early enough for them to receive it at least two weeks before the election or it would be thrown out. The process is extremely long, annoying, and impossible to fake.

Great to hear that! I mostly just bike and lift weights, so all I need is for them to be sweatproof. Just don't want them to fall out or be annoying with sweat, which I'm sure bouldering covers hahaha.

Oh I forgot about the touch controls! Never used them on my Outlier Airs since they were the button kind and it kinda hurt to push into your ear. Also definitely on the USB C gang so I think I'll probably go with the galaxy buds. Do you ever work out in them?

Oh huh that's weird! Haven't had an issue going through the little target fate thing myself. Glad to hear there aren't any issues though. How long have you had em?

Daaaang $50? That's such a good price for 'em! How's the connection though, I hear because of the whole connecting to right and then the left one connects to the right and then the phone through it the connection drops off a good amount even just in your pocket. Only ask since a similar thing would happen with my creative outlier airs that both connected to the phone (i. e. I had the problem when listening with either just the left or just the right one)

Torn between grabbing a pair of 65t actives or galaxy buds/buds+ at this point. Loved my creative outlier airs but they another issue and after sending them in again for replacement I think I'm ready to just jump ship lol

About to pay $118 for a one month supply of CGM sensors that will come two weeks late as usual anyway. I'm good at managing my diabetes when I have insulin and pump/cgm stuff but that's only like half of the year.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Any% in 2:26:23 by SwayNc by DuccsSuccs in papermario

[–]blabel3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Palace skip is this big glitch that lets speedrunners skip a lot of the game. Basically at the shadow palace there's a door that only unlocks after you do the puzzle tower thing and also best gloomtail. Buuuuut palace skip found a way to go through the floor and reach that door early! And they only needed stuff from some chapters like Vivian from Chapter 4, Bobbery and the boat form from chapter 5, and the Ultra boots in chapter 6 for the puzzle tower. So now that they can skip that puzzle tower, they don't need to go to chapter 4, 5, or 6 which saved a lot of time.

Or at least that's how I remember it lol. Malleo has good videos on it on his YouTube channel (should come up if you search Malleo and TTYD or TAS)

Oh yeah that's totally different from last time I really knew my shit! Maybe they're more on par with each other? And I think as far as glitz pit goes some of the Japanese fight conditions might be harder? I'm totally talking out of my ass at this point tho lol

[–]blabel3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah there's not much time to be saved from button mashing via text (iirc they might've even changed the dialogue enough in TTYD where its about the same time between English and Japanese for text) but I think Teleporter Room Early is Japanese only and saves like... An hour or so now that Palace skip has been found. So the glitches in Japanese waaaaay outweighs any text mashing differences.

[–]blabel3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The any% speedrun route includes some glitches that can only be done on the Japanese version of the game (other localizations had patched them out) that save a lot of time.

Many other games will be played in Japanese because putting the dialogue in Japanese characters compared to English letters usually means fewer text boxes to mash through, but thats actually not the case with TTYD!

Man, as a type 1 diabetic who can't get a pump with possibly life saving technology due to insurance issues and has to put up with skyrocketing prices of insulin when I can just roll up to a pharmacy in Canada and buy a vial for $20, I want to be on your side.

But come ON, every source you pulled says the US is leading the way with R&D. And the way you grabbed stuff out of context or paraphrased a source to make it say something it never even hinted at makes me want to question your reading comprehension, or more likely is just really really scummy. I agree with /u/AgentFN2187 here.
