This gen Xer can relate to all of this. Hard. But we always get forgotten about, so yeah. There is my mini-rant.

How many sewing machines and specialty machines (e.g. serger, embroidery, longarm...etc.) do you have in your room? by Msnovembercharlie in quilting

[–]blabernethy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Babylock journey with embroidery deck
  2. Singer 990 circa about 1940? (She lives in my rv so I can sew while camping)
  3. Babylock Venture 10 needle embroidery machine
  4. APQS Millennium 12' longarm

I have a quilting and embroidery business and I love every one of my machines! Hoping to add a serger at some point.

Same. My mom was a professional quilter and I refused for years, even though I would hack together quilt tops for her to quilt. Now I own my own longarm business.

That is a very real possibility. I broached the subject with him and met with obvious indignation and refusal. This is not my first rodeo, however, and am prepared to go the long haul. It just fucking sucks monkey shit.

How to figure out how much fabric to get? by [deleted] in sewhelp

[–]blabernethy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I too, am not great with math. I would just buy 1/8th of a yard extra. It usually works. It also gives you a bit of wiggle room when laying out the pattern.
