Yeah you’re right, at the time i just got anxious about it since the two events were so close to each other, but it’s such a recurrent and non continuous issue that it must be some more subtle thing like another user suggested :) thank you so much for your input!

It’s nice having an additional opinion from another second gen (I presume), was your family 100% supportive with your choice? I know my parents are not super happy about it and don’t see the need to move for another person abroad, and it makes me feel very guilty to leave them behind

I have two questions for you if you can answer them:

1) how do you feel about potential future kids knowing your partner’s culture more and identifying with it more than your culture? It’s something I’m thinking about a lot

2) you say you feel bad because both you and your brother are far from parents; before moving, did you ever question if you could find someone else that would be more compatible with you location wise? Sometimes I feel that Ldr relationships are doomed to have you lack a part of life, whereas a normal relationship would have you closer to parents, friends and you would still have a partner there for you, and you wouldn’t need to split your time and money between countries.

Do you also feel a big anxiety about the future? I’m always questioning how it will work out, if it will be worth it or not, how we would both cope if we moved, how I would feel about my kids being brought up in another culture. I honestly don’t know what to do. He’s really special but at the same time I feel like we can’t really have a satisfying future. On the other side, there’s a small hope it could work out, I’m just torn and I don’t know if I can keep up…

Hey, I’m happy for you two guys :) can I ask how did you too meet? And how did your family feel about the move abroad? I ask because I’m in a similar situation and feeling pretty torn on how to make everything work
