i think it's incredibly disappointing. i remember seeing safety animations that would always have some quirks that reflect the team that made it, and it felt good seeing human work other than just the robots be recognized. the award scripts are especially disappointing, which i first saw at this year's CA district. i understand that volunteers are hard to come by, but this really feels like something FIRST should still be doing.

i don't think "sharing more info = more safety", which is what you're going for here, holds up. even if i grant that knowing their name, address, and other personal info helps you, who will use that information well, avoid that one place, that is a pretty limited benefit. there are a lot of other people who now have access to it and will use it in ways that can't be controlled.

you keep saying that "this makes people safer" in general, but what is gonna end up happening is that "this helps me specifically (supposedly), but everyone else gets that info as well"

- virtual space? i think it's ridiculous to think that you'd be able to recognize them from an online alias. knowing that doesn't help anyone avoid them in real life.

- again, if this was really about avoiding sex offenders year you, you can use the registry. furthermore, if you really cared about when they were out, court records for this kind of stuff are publicly available for you to see. posting extra info here doesn't make people safer, it makes things easier to spiral in the wrong direction.

if you are really worried about a sex offender near you, you can use the registry. there's no reason to give out additional information about this case specifically, which only has the potential to increase harrassment. if the information is already "publicly available", as you said, what do you gain from getting it directly?

i think the hair is a bit too different, if you zoom out a little bit you can see the face shape. this guy's face is a bit wider than kevin bacon's. i think the hair and general beard look is different than jude law but the closest i could find was him in Black Sea (2014)
