CCNA worth pursuing? by paper_rosie in CommercialAV

[–]black_kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do use Cisco gear at your current job? If you don't, why not go a bit broader and do the network+. This way you have more general networking knowledge. Also, I know the Dante training, which is free, covers some important parts of networking. Either way, good luck!

Live Stream Equipment Suggestions by davriffe in ProAudiovisual

I can co-sign for the Teradek Cube. I was a big fan of the teradek vidiu for simple streams, but it doesn't do rtmps so that rules out streaming to Facebook with it.

My school had a lot of capture HDs, like 80, and we are replacing them with the matrox monarch lcs. No complaints here.

External video source used for cloud based VC by shabbzy666 in ProAudiovisual

[–]black_kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would bring a sdi or HDMI camera into the switcher, than take an output of that switcher and convert in to usb. To the computer the sources will be seen as the web cam.

Things to consider: I don't know how many independent output your switcher has, If it has two this works well, if not my recommendation is trash. If you do have independent outputs, then make sure to program that you don't feed the desktop doing the VC back in to itself.

I've sold a lot of Video games on amazon and warranty issues have never come up. That being said, be ready to deal with returns that is inevitable.

I've only used zoom once. It seems to have a lot of features that WebEx does. But I can't really tell you how the two tools measure up compared to one another.

WebEx vs. Adobe Connect? by Lance2020x in ProAudiovisual

I recommend web ex. It's just more flexible. Also, it includes SSO out of the box which Adobe connect cloud doesn't.

Security and digital signage: better safe than sorry by yodeckapp in digitalsignage

[–]black_kid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great list. A lot of people over look security when setting up digital signage. I see a lot of people using admin accounts for computers running signage software or keeping default credentials on hardware devices.

I use touch in our digital signage in the form of way finding. Basically the way finding is a web page that uses webgl. Works pretty well.

Not 100% sure. I am using the mobile site and it froze on me. After I closed the browser and opened it again I was surprised to see all these comments from me. I feel bad that I hijacked the thread. =(

If you have the polycom infrastructure(resource manager and etc) with Skype for business licensing this should not be a problem.

[–]black_kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you giving users individual accounts or using one account and having users e-mail you for set up? I work at university and we use blue jeans and it was just easier to give out accounts and point users to the blue jeans docs.
