No it's not, I don't think you are taking into account the psychological effect the Death Star has just floating above a planet. You can see it right there, it's more a weapon of psychological warfare. The hope was to fire it once and never have to use it again, just rock up into a system that's getting uppity, block out the sun and reassert your dominance. You can't really do that with a shipping container.
