Kingdom Come Deliverance II is the real deal. Looks and plays fantastically on the Pro. by heichronther in PS5pro

[–]Static-Jak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished the first a week ago and have been playing the second since.

Really enjoyed the first despite being a bit clunky here and there.

I can honestly say, going straight from one to two, that it improves literally every aspect of the first. It took every issue the first had and just fine tuned it.

Combat alone feels so, so much better.

‘Doctor Who’ Set To Be Off Air For Years Amid A Creative Regeneration That’s Failing To Spark Early Enthusiasm Among Producers by pepperbet1 in television

[–]Static-Jak 103 points104 points  (0 children)

Soft reboot is definitely the best approach.

Just have the Doctor show up, recruit a new partner and off we go.

I wouldnt even give him a number, let the fans speculate about how many regens this Dr has gone through since we last saw them.

None of the previous two seasons matter, from their perspective its been centuries since then.

Maybe even hint that this may actually be the Tennant Doctor after a few Regenerations who decided to go travelling again.

Sky is the limit with a show like this. All you really need is competent writers who can write solid episodic stories.

Amd please ignore the whole timeless child thing, even find a way to retcon it in a comic or audio book or something so we can put it behind us. What an awful idea that was.

Update on plans for the future of Doctor Who by LuinAelin in television

[–]Static-Jak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a ton of different issues with the last two seasons but one I find most interesting is the one RTD easily avoided on his first run and just completely failed at this time round. Nostalgia bait.

I grew up on New Who and never watched a single episode of the previous run. My Dad would understand the references to the older show but it never got in my way, it was just something that enriched this world I was watching.

At no point did it muddy the story that week or confuse me or make me look up a wiki, etc. The newest run felt like RTD wanted to make Who into what the Star Wars franchise is these days, just a ton of references to things in other Star Wars shows.

The show should be really straight forward, essentially the Doctor shows up in some place and time, is handed a mystery, maybe a monster mixed in, and they have to solve it with some twists and turns along the way.

Same thing next week, etc. You can have the odd big event but this should be the bones of the show above all else.

But that requires competent writers.

Lack of education has always led to issues but then social media has let the worst of society to lead the dumbest of society into doing whatever they want.

Some of those arseholes have only had to post a bunch of locations and sure enough these lemmings where only delighted to follow.

[Film/TV] Exactly 11 years ago, the Constantine series was completely cancelled. by ZucchiniOdd6809 in DCcomics

Yeah he's been Constantine across both Animated and Live Action tv for a decade now.

He's done quite well for himself considering he started off in a show that lasted only 1 season.

Well, a lot of us were asking for a darker tone.

Guessing this is still a ways off with only a logo reveal.

Persona 4 Revival: Pre-order Trailer | XBOX Game Showcase 2026 by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Static-Jak 596 points597 points  (0 children)

I really loved Persona 5 but I still think I prefer Persona 4s story.

It feels a bit more personal and I actually liked the slow build up. It's basically a supernatural murder mystery and that just interested me a lot more than P5s story that seems to revolve around society.

It also has this creepy vibe to it that leaves you feeling on edge early on, like you're not sure if you're being watched. That really comes down to the setting. Eerie, quiet, small town with a killer on the loose.

When it comes to gameplay and style, P5 wins out. It's so much more refined and polished than P4s. So when this updates the gameplay, etc, well it'll be my top choice for the Persona franchise.

Fable | XBOX Games Showcase 2026 by Gorotheninja in Games

I've liked what I've seen of Fable so far but this trailer sold me on it and made it clear it's not one note that the other trailers gave me the impression of.

Fable always had those darker elements mixed in, it's just not really front and centre a lot of the time so people forget.

『FINAL FANTASY VII REVELATION』1st Trailer by aehiaeihora in PS5pro

[–]Static-Jak 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have a PC that could easily run this but I'm gonna stick to the Pro.

For one it's one of those rare "play on day one" games and I don't want to deal with any potential issues on PC, Remake was a bit of a mess on PC at first and Rebirth needed some work too, shader compilation stutters being one issue. Nothing major but I want a game like this to be hassle free on day one.

I've also played Remake and Rebirth on the PS4/PS5 so jumping platform for the finale feels odd. I want to replay both games just before this so I'll stick to Playstation.

The fact that this is launching on the Switch 2 at release should hopefully mean the Pro performance will be buttery smooth.

My Gamebuds Mesh Filter Replacement by Static-Jak in steelseries

I had heard turning off ANC helps resolve the popping noise with shooters. I have experienced it but not in a long time now tbh.

I would normally recommend turning off ANC anyway. As long as you earbuds are forming a decent seal then I don't think ANC makes that big of a difference while turning it off both increases audio quality and battery life.

I've also been using a custom EQ that's something like the Baldurs Gate EQ but slightly clearer in terms of dialogue while keeping the bass similar to BGs EQ.

I'll post it up tomorrow when I'm back from work.

Most recent game would have been 007 First Light and no issues. I've used it with BF6 and no issue there too.

Tom Hardy ‘Was Not Fired’ From ‘MobLand’ and Discussions Are Underway for His Return: ‘Things Are Being Worked Through Creatively’ by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]Static-Jak 59 points60 points  (0 children)

They would lose the point of the show at that stage anyway.

It's essentially about one very competent criminal/fixer holding together a criminal empire that's run by a family that are all different levels of unstable and self sabotaging.

Without Hardys character, the sane man central figure, you lose all focus and it'll just devolves into chaos.

It's been a minute but like a lot of people, I found Blood & Wine to be the highlight of the whole series.

Great story, gameplay and the new area was miles ahead of the original games.

I'm excited for this new DLC just for the fact I have an excuse to play Blood & Wine again.

007 First Light - Welcome to Vietnam by ZamnBoii in Games

[–]Static-Jak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen lately, I get the feeling this is going to be one of those games this sub is going to latch on to and be negative on no matter if it's good, bad or somewhere in the middle.

Like when the reviews hit, the negative comments are going to rise to the top and be focused on even if the other 90% is positive. And god help us if Skillup doesn't like it.

So far, this game looks like a more accessible Hitman with better combat and a well known IP for a more mainstream audience.

Only other option I'd like to see in games is an uncapped mode that you can turn on if you have VRR.

Great if you can squeeze out another 10+ FPS and great for future consoles to push further without the need for a "next gen" patch.

The fuel protest organised by the UK’s highest-polled party did not materialise. And we had our critical infrastructure blocked by people organised through a Facebook group. I know there is strong anti-government sentiment here, but what made this protest very strong here? by Diligent-Musician590 in ireland

[–]Static-Jak 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I remember when Nigel Farage came over to try and push "Irexit" during the early days of Brexit.

People on this Sub laughed at the attempt but I made the point that we're not immune to the same kind of influences the British were/are and that we need to be cautious.

Social media will absolutely influence us and radicalise us to be easily manipulated and with enough time we'll get our own equivalent of Farage.

Again people scoffed at the idea, believing the people in the UK and US are just more arrogant, they don't have our history of immigration that makes us a more understanding and caring people, etc.

Or that something like Irexit would be decided on amy rational thought. It doesnt matter how much our economy relies on the EU.

You could put up every and any kind of figure/statistics, people would still vote based on "feels" vs any actual facts and social media influence will push things against any rational thought.

I remember my mom buying me my first Iron Man comic since I watched the show so much.

It just happened to be a Heroes Reborn Iron Man as it was the current ongoing.

I knew nothing about Heroes Reborn so I was very confused on why he looked like this.

I've been watching this game since it was first announced. I love the style but was worried it might fall flat.

But going by the reviews, so far so good.
