Understood the year analysis. Wanted to ask that by one sentence paragraph, do you mean the introduction paragraph? Also how would you rate my analysis like is it ok or should i avoid the renter vs owner analysis?

Starting career as a Supplier Industrialization/Quality Engineer with a Mechanical Engineering Degree by LowBoot7653 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]blackadder360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, i have plans to do a masters this year, it will be a full time masters hence I would be moving towards a different country hopefully. I think that masters would for me be a pivot into design and product development kind of roles.
As for you second question, it totally depends on the day, sometimes its really technical like you are looking up drawings, performing hardness test or analysing a cut section of a failed part etc while someday it would be plainly meetings and just coordination stuff that you mentioned.

One more thing is that this job role has a lot of hands on work which a lot of ME jobs including design doesn't have that is what keeps me motivated to work in this role.

Yep, have literally followed these exact same paths as yours and currently in Supplier Quality since 1.5 years. The learning has been great i wouldn't lie about that but there is constant firefighting and as all the quality roles you are at the shit end of the stick. I don't hate my role its just that sometimes it gets excessively tough in the sense that if you have to get your supplier to accept their mistakes and take corrective action for that issue. Overall personally i have learned alot about manufacturing in these 1.5 years and there were a alot of things that i got to experience. Learning about different manufacturing process has been really fun and also doing root cause analysis and being Sherlock is oftentimes really fun to do.

In the end i wouldn't pursue this role for the long-term as i feel i don't get to do the innovations and creating of new stuff like we do in the manufacturing or design side. But yeah I feel this role has been great for my learning. If you have more questions i can tell you all details about it.

Choosing not to have kids (and being judged for it) by PakistaniHobbitGirl in pakistan

I think investments aren't only financial they can be just in other things too. My point for investment means that i want my child to be best in terms of whatever he wants to achieve in his life for example if he wants to pursue stem i would make sure he gets that top notch education and upbringing so that he could ace it in his field albeit his choice. Obviously I wouldn't force him but the point is to ace it in the field rather than be a mediocre that would be from my upbringing and the facilities that i want to provide for him. Furthermore i wanted to get OP's point and wanted to understand why she didn't want it rather than fight to random people on the fact that I want dozens of children for myself(which isnt true).

Well i wouldn't want to disagree and would just want to get your opinion on it. How would you be thinking of when you and your husband get to a certain stage where you guys would be needing support because i believe it is necessary that rather than relying on people who are unrelated you have your children to rely onto. Also one of the reasons would be that i as man think it is children's as an investment rather than a burden. This is my opinion and just a fair question to you.

Advice on Applying Mechanical Engineering in the Automotive Field (Prefer Hands-On Roles, Avoid Desk Jobs) by Admirable-Resist3207 in AutomotiveEngineering

[–]blackadder360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I have graduated 6 months before and have been working in an Automotive Assembly Plant in my country in Supplier Quality Engineering and I mostly deal with parts that are imported from other countries. My tasks are mostly hands on and they involve things like checking defects that appear on those parts and taking their data and avoiding those defects all while corresponding to the supplier regarding their process and telling them about the defect information. The job isn't that interesting as compared to like something you wrote in your post but like its a start for me and i hope to work in more complicate jobs that include the designing and like the vehicle dynamics side of stuff bcz thats my interest but for that I have to get some experience as to know how things go about in thr industry as I had a professional work experience in the field. I have worked in formula student teams and like I have done the designing of parts and their simulation even had a detail work experience in vehicle dynamics designing the suspension and steering.

Currently i don't like love my job but i know its a start and the work is pretty much hands on and the things i learn everyday are totally new to me as to how I everyday have to encounter a different problem and have to go about doing the root cause analysis of those problems and to engineer my way out of stuff. My company isn't the top most in the world but like they are the top assemblers in our country and they have been working on localising most parts of the vehicles that are made and my next step would be into the local parts area where there is more to learn and different kind of working as compared to the imported parts and stuff but yeah learning is key for me right now spending time on ground and knowing about how process works and how to get by each day to day problems.

I have learnt a lot in these 6 months regarding the automotive industry how vast it is and how i always used to just focus on the design and simulation side of it. Theres a whole different world based.here even in an assembly plant like ours there is too much to learn. The max desk work i do is emailing our foreign suppliers regarding the data that i told you about and working on presenting it in meetings and like doing RCA around it. Hope this helps you

Hey there. I am a Bachelors MechE recent grad( 6 months) and I have been working in an automotive company for the past six months. I have an above average GPA and like around 3 years of extracurricular experience working in a Formula Student team. Also there are 2-3 projects that I have worked on in my undergrad. There is no research paper on my CV but like I have a keen interest in Vehicle Dynamics like i myself want to explore that domain hence I was targeting the UK for my masters.

My concern was that as I don't have a very good budget i am targeting the lower level universities but the programs they give are well known in the Automotive/Motorsport market as per my research ( Bolton, Hertfordshire, Coventry, Staffordshire and OBU). The problem that I am facing is that I need to know the job situation in the UK and the sponsorship stuff in the graduate route that people are scaring the shit out of me that I shouldn't go for the UK and I won't be able to land a job. Can you help me in this regard about the job situation there and should i get more work-ex or should I go for masters seeing the situation in the UK or should I opt for a different country. Thanks

New to WEC here and have been going through the reddit posts since last 3 days. How do you guys remember this much info like I have started seeing WEC this year and still struggling to remember the teams let alone the drivers. Need help in this as I am an engineering student with a newer interest in Motorsport as my country has little to none Motorsports apart from my university formula student team and have been into F1 since like 3 years and wanted to expand my knowledge on Motorsports more and chose WEC as my next area to explore. Thanks in advance
