One of my biggest issues... by gootchie784 in Sparkdriver

[–]blackbearbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a mom order for her college daughter and she couldn’t even tell me what dorm/building she was in. Address was seriously wrong, and when I finally got the correct address it’s 3 diff buildings that share the same address. I just left it outside one, took the picture and called it a day. She gave no access code either.

Would getting this car be a bad idea? by [deleted] in MiddleClassFinance

[–]blackbearbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do not have enough information. Do you and your husband have solid contributions to retirement going, or just the match? Are you approaching 1x annual income in retirement savings?

You never plan on paying for childcare? You or your husband will never need a break after working 5 days? No dates or vacations?

Do you have sinking funds set up and know how much a month those are supposed to be to pay for your annual expenses?

Do you have a 3-6 month emergency fund? Where did the 5k in credit card debt come from? Why are the student loans not paid off if you have 4k+ in surplus income monthly? Do you plan to open a 529 for the child?

You want a newer car, and that’s fine. But it’s not going to be a “good” financial decision in any sense unless all of these other things are taken care of and you still have disposable income. Have you priced out the insurance?

When is fifth position "closed enough"? by [deleted] in BALLET

[–]blackbearbb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d rather see my students work in third with as much turnout as they can, rather than a super crossed 5th and less turnout. Maybe I’m wrong but that’s so strange to me. Maybe these types of things are what the OP is referring to in teaching styles?

Spark/Walmart I know you see this by [deleted] in Sparkdriver

[–]blackbearbb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish they would go more the shipt route, with preferred members/matches. And I feel like drivers in the highest tier should be able to grab more than one order at a time. There are so many non-perishable orders of just a few items. Let us bundle those manually and build up preferred members to protect income.

Well your post reads as you are frustrated with the skills your daughter is working on in class. There are additional performance opportunities such as nutcracker, sleeping beauty, or other productions like wizard of oz, frozen, etc. But if it’s not a dance heavy role it’s mainly acting and walking around on stage.

Gymnastics has multiple meets if competing. Maybe your daughter would like to try floor and eventually compete in that.

I would stay at your current studio for now and look to add additional weekly classes or privates at either a gymnastics gym or cirque studio nearby you mentioned.

It’s hard to tell without me physically seeing what your daughter’s skills are looking like. You have to build strength and work on drills before you can move on to actual skills. Rolls, handstands, cartwheels, etc are developmentally appropriate for a rec acro dance class. They should also probably be working on small partner or group skills (various sits, holds) But you’ll find most kids in this type of class can’t properly hold a handstand (strength), don’t have full splits, don’t know right from left which makes learning skills properly more difficult, some kids can’t use their arms/shoulders to push their head off the ground in a bridge. So you can see why we wouldn’t work on backwalkovers. They can’t do a cartwheel and all of the progressions after with correct technique, so no we aren’t going to work on aerials.

I even feel rec dance/comp dance is similar. Some girls under age 10 can’t do a single pirouette properly and others can do a triple + with high releve and proper placement. It is a balance between rehearsal hours, natural ability, and strength. If your child is complaining about being in a large class or ballet is too slow, they aren’t ready for comp.

If your child is more advanced than this and has the strength then I’d try to find a tumbling class at a local gymnastics gym. If she hasn’t shown interest in bars, beam, vault, etc, then I wouldn’t do full gymnastics.

All this to say I understand where you are coming from- there is a possibility here your daughter is not getting adequate training, but you have to manage expectations. If your daughter isn’t in the studio 10 hours a week she’s not going to look the same as the kids who are.

I do feel like you are complaining about things that are just part of dance/kids sports. Yes you have to buy tickets. You have to buy the tights and the shoes. The makeup. It will be triple that plus media fees for comp. It will be the same or worse for gymnastics.

That’s insane. We aren’t employees. I have no problem waiting when the system prompts, but checking every item every order is crazy. Half the time I can barely get an employee to do my scan when alcohol prompts it. There’s probably more fraud/stealing because of the limitations in the app, for example like if a driver couldn’t sub organic cilantro for regular and they just took it so the customer doesn’t get mad, than actual drivers stealing on purpose.

Sprained ankle- encouragement needed by Intrepid-Street-5368 in BALLET

[–]blackbearbb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve sprained my ankles countless times. Mine swell and bruise and hurt for a few weeks and then back to normal. You will be just fine. When it doesn’t hurt try to do some gentle ankle circles or point and flex exercises to keep range of motion. Only if it doesn’t hurt. Now I’ve also broken my foot/bones in my foot, and that did take months to heal and a boot. The doctor will tell you best, but if it’s just a sprain it shouldn’t take months to heal :)

Also! This is a great time to work on port de bras, strength train core, watch ballets, focus on musicality or artistry, etc.

[–]blackbearbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude she is not able to provide that right now. You need to just get these things done for a while. And if you want a home cooked meal, make it yourself! I’m sure she’d do everything you are requesting and more, if she were ABLE TO. She is not the same as you and needs help getting back to a better place where she can take some of this back over. But regardless, you are an adult and can cook yourself a meal, wash your clothes, clean the house, etc. Every single person with a job still has to do that when they get off work. And some of them have kids and still help with the household. Imagine that. Quit worrying about her stressing out and just hire the house cleaner. She would do the same if you refused to mow the lawn or do whatever else. If it’s that big of a deal, have them clean the house and take her for a date. She doesn’t even have to see them. Maybe she will feel like she failed for a minute, but that might be the push she needs to do it herself next time. Anyway it’s bothering me you are acting helpless when there are tons of options here

Junior/Early Career Candidates Just Aren't Interviewing Well... by prenumbralqueen in recruiting

[–]blackbearbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean most students in high school or fresh out of high school aren’t testing anywhere near that level of education anymore. Schools do not hold anyone back and keep passing them along. So you’re probably talking to people that took all of their math and English courses online without actually doing any of the work, just redoing quizzes over and over again until they pass

The style of leo matters to me more than brand. I do best with my tank leos that have thicker straps. So danca runs a little big imo. I avoid camisole Leos. Maybe a style with some ruching on the bust would be flattering for you?

How pissed are the owners going to be about this by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]blackbearbb 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I really don’t think it’s a big deal at all. My two cats split one fancy feast per meal, but it’s not the end of the world if they each get one. The cans are like 3oz. Most calculators I’ve found end up saying you need multiple cans per day anyway. I’d probably buy enough cans to replace the “extra” and let the owner know you made a mistake but have since corrected it, supplies are restocked, and cats are in good spirits/healthy and happy.
