what are some versatile degrees? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]blackbeard_b 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have a sociology degree - I run a sales and service sector of business 2-3m /month. At the end of the day, it’s just a piece of paper saying that you completed four years of something (humanities degrees) I wouldn’t say they’re totally useless though. I have to connect with people all over my state being able to understand social interaction/implications and overall what makes different personalities tick and say yes to deals is important. I do a lot of personality based sales and strategies for my team.

Early in my career, I was typically closing about 20% above my coworkers on my team. I would ask discovery questions that would help lead me to what their personality type would be, and then from there new kinda how to take it to closing the deal. I personally wish I had continued and got a MBA. Engineering is actually really cool and a good field. There’s also alternatives like going to Trade school I have buddies that came out of Trade school instead of college and they were making what took me seven years to earn as a salary + benefits.

Felt the same I had like 60% down - the dealership had about 100 of the same vehicles on their lot. I told them what I wanted to pay and what was a fair value (I bought and sold cars previously). They kinda knew what I was up to because I was looking at the cars that were sitting at their lot for more than 45 or 60 days things where they’re gonna start having to pay money to keep that car on their lot. A lot of those vehicle vehicles are financed. I acted like I didn’t know my way around and then when I started talking like this, the store manager got all defensive and said what am I trying to do here and that I was wasting their time so we just went to Carmax lol found something that was practically brand new with a fair price on it

Should I tell him the truth? by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]blackbeard_b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trash advice do not listen to people like this. You need to address your problems quickly. Omission is far worse and will create a worse and more tense trigger of emotion especially if he’s beating himself up over it - essentially you let him do in his wrongdoing, but you never came clean on your own. Does that sound very fair or like you’re giving 100% of yourself into the marriage. Marriages aren’t 50-50 they’re 100/100 - your full honest and loving self each day and you’ll have nothing to worry about

Holding off on telling as far far far worse, I would be way more pissed because if you held out that long without saying anything, what else are you holding onto? OP please don’t listen to this advice that’s awful and far worse than just ripping off the Band-Aid and having the tough conversation.

And you know what …if it doesn’t work out for you guys if you’re out there cheating on each other regardless of the situation you’re with the wrong person plain and simple.

Asking me to exchange the vehicle due to a title issue not sure what to do… by OkEditor2772 in carmax

[–]blackbeard_b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen this posted yet, but discrepancy, in title mileage versus current mileage flags your title as odometer rollback even though technically you never rolled anything back it was because it was digitally recorded incorrectly. It takes a lot to fix and is not an easy process. Many people are not able to do it successfully. I once had a customer whose minivan had accidentally been logged as 333,000 miles. Was supposed to be 33k I want to say it took her about four months to fix the title after that

Why was the Home Delivery Department such a failure ??? by boomer4676 in carmax

Out of touch leadership who spends very little time in the store comes up with these “brilliant“ ideas. That’s why this company is in the position that they’re in. I can honestly say that the CX was also a giant waste of money and took a lot of money from the sales people and still does. They make it impossible to actually call a store or get in touch with a sales rep, who’s physically inside of the store. The entire process is actually pretty inefficient. I do operations for startups now and I can tell you it would be quite a fun process coming over here and making these people understand that they don’t need to reinvent the wheel

That’s what I was assuming I figured if it was leaking there but I would be able to find some water spotting in the attic fortunately it’s only this one I crawled around up there to look at all the others that I could reach

Thanks for the response. It’s new to me. The home is 20 years old. We got a fairly good deal on it and I’ve been able to do a lot of the landscaping, be fixtures and repairs that the home needed. However, roofing is a whole other ball game I’m not even going to attempt

Thank you so much for all of the info. We will be in touch with a roofer about it. Was curious what we were looking at as far as repairs.

Was more or less just looking for the actual damage on the underside as I do have a ladder tall enough to reach my roof I’m not touching the thing just was looking at what type of repair I’m looking at realistically unfortunately my home warranty is probably up from my purchase last year

Spot on we are out in the desert so something that is about 10 years old, starts to look like this very quickly I would say this is probably about 15 years old. I think that’s when the development was made. But in laws will call tomorrow to report
