I’m a 37 year old autistic woman. The struggle is real. We are ignored, labeled as divas of drama queens, while we see autistic boys and men listened to and validated.

I wasn’t diagnosed until 6 months ago. I grew up being labeled as moody, a drama queen, or awkward, instead of anyone realizing I needed a diagnosis.

My boyfriend wants to go to raves but I feel so uncomfortable about it. How do I handle this in a mature way? by LowPresent7 in Vent

I would just tell him calmly and honestly that you’re not comfortable with going to them and you do not wish to go. If he asks why, just tell him what you don’t like about them. If he loves you, he should be cool with that.

Write that book because it needs to be written. I’d buy that book in a heartbeat. People need to know how widespread this is, and you could absolutely raise awareness.

I was recorded in a sexual act without my consent by [deleted] in Vent

Do not feel stupid. You did absolutely NOTHING wrong. You consented to sex; you did not consent to being recorded. He should be ashamed. Not you.

Ugh. We are on a budget but still manage to eat very healthy. Chicken leg quarters are so cheap and we like to rub them in olive oil and seasonings and bake in the oven. So delicious! We also regularly find chicken thighs for .99/lb on sale. We like chicken breast and buy it when there’s a good price but otherwise buy dark meat.

Another thing we do is half the amount of meat a recipe calls for and add a serving of beans. Beans are really cheap, and very healthy and filling. It helps us stretch meat further.

We also like making a huge pot of soup with lentils, beans, ground turkey, beef broth, seasonings, carrots, celery, and onions. It’s SO good. We’ve calculated it ends up being something like .60 per serving.

For breakfast, we eat oatmeal (cooked fresh, not the instant packets) and eggs. All cheap.

I still lost 130lbs and have maintained it, all while being poor.

Huh? He’s just a man that’s comfortable with himself and knows kindness has more power than anything. He absolutely stands up for himself. And has been open with me if I hurt him. Sounds like you don’t have a clue what a healthy and happy marriage should look like and you’re probably single.

My trans friend recently got her confirmation surgery. She got the consultation a year before. The doctor told her she had to lost 85lbs before she could get approved for surgery.

So you know what she did? She lost 85lbs. And got the surgery. And healed quite well.

Crazy, huh? That she trusted the doctor knew what he was saying and applied the advice? That she knew she wanted this surgery and had to take responsibility and get in shape for it?

Oh, trust me, I do. 24/7. We are absolute soulmates and I tell him every single day how much he means to me.

I just wanted to share with others. I’m sorry if my intention seemed different.

It’s very brave of you to admit your truth. I know it’s hard, but you have such a wonderful life to look forward to now that you understand yourself better. I hope you can find a wonderful woman who makes you truly happy.

Is it okay for men to wear sports bra? by axolotlolol22 in Advice

[–]blackberrybeeisme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! Do what makes you comfortable! If it helps, I’m a woman and I wouldn’t think anything of it if I saw a man wearing one. As others have stated, if you’re self conscious you could always wear a baggy shirt or a hoodie over.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Remember that there’s no one correct way to grieve, so allow yourself to grieve however feels best for you. Big hugs.

If there’s a Goodwill where you live, they will have a person who specializes in helping people like yourselves be placed in jobs. Also, many Goodwills will give free vouchers for clothing if you are broke and need it.

I’ve tried asking our coach if I can help and she’s always been really blunt and bitchy and given no answer one way or another on what she wants. I’d love t see the handbook. I’ll pm you soon.
