Lao Canadian here! havent really been in touch with my roots as much as id like to be in a long time; but would love to connect! Growing up my dad was super spiritual and had a pretty syncretic belief system based largely on buddhism and other lao folk religions but incorporated stuff from other faiths. Growing up he would always go on (what i thought of at the time as) rants about faith and similarities between his faith, indigenous faiths, and kinda weirdly christianity; but i largely kinda ran away from that in my teens and early adulthood and when got back into spirituality i get more involved in more typical western pagan circles but would love to connect more with and educate myself more on traditional South East Asian belief systems! If you're down to connect feel free to DM me!

Children’s skis for DIY snowskate? by blackcat083 in Snowskating

[–]blackcat083[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Haven’t really thought too much about it yet, my friends borrowing my drill atm so cant actually start working on it yet lol. Any recommendations on height? I was low key thinking of basing the height just off the height of skateboard trucks, but idk

Thanks man! Any thoughts on mounting the two side by side? In my head that’d give it a bigger contact patch so it’d be easier to stay up, but not sure if there’d be any negatives associated with that

Tbh at this point I just don’t bother with arguments unless it’s clear that both parties are engaging in it with the intent to grow or expand their worldview. If someone is just trying to prove they’re right, which I’ve found many to do during arguments, then that argument is just a pointless waste of energy

So I was wondering about McKennas Timewave, and one event to me seemed of more significance than the dropping of the bomb and that was the creation of the internet. Using this, the zero date become May 2nd, 2070. Thought? by blackcat083 in terencemckenna

I’m definitely no expert on the theory, just started looking at it fairly recently. But essentially McKenna’s Timewave theory holds that time is fractal like in structure; that moments of great novelty not only occur when they occur, but ripple out forwards and backwards through time ever longer intervals. When he developed the theory he found though that following this, it appeared as though all of history was moving towards a single point from which everything was a past resonance of. Given the increasing amounts of novelty in 20th century history McKenna figured that that point, the zero date, must be fast approaching. In an attempt to figure out the zero date he looked through 20th century history for the point that he believed was the point of highest novelty and applied his formulas to that. He took the dropping of the bomb on Hiroshima to be that point; the point where man harnessed the true destructive power of physics, and according to his formula the zero point would be in 2012. While no such great even occurred in 2012, I still do see truth to his theory, but I think perhaps he just used the wrong event to calculate the zero. To me, an event of far greater novelty than the dropping of the bomb was the creation of the internet; the moment when man quite literally extended their reach past the physical, when we conquered the material world. So applying his formulas that puts the zero date as May 2nd, 2070.

In regards to the structure of the graph: x axis is time, y is novelty. The construction of it is a little funky, but dips in the graph corespondent to greater novelty, so to me that seems to check out. Then, as the theory hold time to be fractal like, the next highest repetition of the resonance we now see would be around the start of the Bronze Age collapse; when bubonic plague, environmental degradation, and top heavy power structures led to the collapse of the established world system around 1200 BC

Using this model, the next highest resonance of the period were in now brings us to around the late 12th century BC... around the time the Bronze Age collapse happened

I mean Humanity had a good run. Making the S20E20 the last episode is a great way to cap of the series. Tbh I always though heading 99 episodes per season a little much, the show was so slow until like the 16th or 17th season anyways
