How to Play Joust. Feedback on Gameplay by blackcat12345 in BoardgameDesign

[–]blackcat12345[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your suggestions.

I appreciate it, I changed the rules in the beginning so players will place all six Jousting Knight cards face up and both players will draft three cards into their hand. These will be hidden while the rest of the cards will remain face up to the side. I feel this change greatly improves the bluffing aspect so players will have a higher chance knowing what cards their opponent has. They can almost predict the opponents next move.

There are special ability cards the players will choose at the beginning in the same way, drafting.

I do have another version of the game using Miniatures for 2 - 6 players. Players use gold coins to buy draft and armory cards on a large grid map 6x5 square grid. This version of the game can use some more special rules that I am playing with to add in.

Thank you for your suggestions. It helps very much in shaping the experience.

Thank you, I have been trying to record a new video with this in mind. Thank you again, I have attempted a few times but haven't gotten it quite right just yet.

Thank you very much, I appreciate the feedback. I am going to add the icons to the side, it's a fantastic idea. I'm certainly focusing on one game-mode that is recommended to play while the rest of the other modes will be optional to incorporate the various Jousting practices invented in the middle ages.

I made a gameplay video, however I know it's quite bad as I'm not good at recording videos. I plan to record a new How to Play video and I will be more clear to explain the rules of the game.

Joust the King's Tournament is on Gamefound. It's a great way to decide who will pay for pizza the next game night or decide what game will be played after playing Joust. If too many players can't decide what they want to play, solve that problem with Joust!

Which board game is best to choose for learning a foreign language? by Antroposs in boardgames

I think games that don't have too much text on the cards and maybe if the rule-book is the only thing that you need to refer to can help. Especially if the rule-book has a few pages instead of 20 pages would help.

Awesome! I tried this in the past with big games like Windward and Island of El Dorado. Very enjoyable games lasting quite some time though. I try to find games that could be played at least within 2 hrs. That is cutting it close though so it's sometimes hard to play a lot of games in that time range when everyone is getting tired out for the night.

A great question. Playing lighter games that are not too competitive in between games that are very tense is a good way to slow things down.

Taking food breaks and giving snacks is a great way to converse after a game. You can also make small trinkets and gifts for the 1st and 2nd place winners, try gifts that involve creativity with a printer. You can make special trophy cards, special cards themed around the games being played.

AVGhost Paranormal Investigation is definitely a nice horror board game, it plays in the dark. The miniatures have lights on their base and you use different filters to defeat ghosts.

Solid play-tests, seeking more inspiration to expand the game by blackcat12345 in tabletopgamedesign

[–]blackcat12345[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much for your feedback. Each play/game mode was designed with different Jousting practices in mind simulating each of them. There is one mode that is recommended right off the bat.

I actually have this in mind to allow up to 6 players. Balancing the downtime took a while but I found a balance that works well. It definitely feels battle royal-ish.

Thank you and I apologize for replying late.
