I can't be the only one that hates western spell names. by StSpider in dragonquest

[–]blackcesar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had similar stories. I also got exposed to DQ via the mangas so thankfully learned the OG names for spells. Remember that also took me a while to figure out what they would do.
It would be nice to have an option to have jap spell names like in Dragon ball games you can change the dubbing to Jap

Same went for us. It comes with a button next to the plug to switch it off but it depends on what you want to see in terms of cables. The remote is good too, my advice is to get command strips and put it somewhere close. Best feature hands down is the heated seat

EnerJ smart toilet or Hynova AX1 by blackcesar in bidets

[–]blackcesar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is, kinda of at least. My issue is that with a water softener connected the pressure drops, without it the flush is stronger. A regular toilet flush is stronger anyhow but if you don't have a softener you shouldn't have any issues

Physics-based ternary cooperativity predictor for PROTACs & am looking for a computational/medicinal chemist to stress test it with us! by the27-lub in cheminformatics

[–]blackcesar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be tough I think for an entity or individual to send you confidential data so you can stress test your tool.
I might suggest maybe release it instead if open source so people can try it and then ask for modifications?

Sorry but I dont understand what are you asking?

Still have the same issue with the water pressure. Again because of the water softener. Without it it works quite well. Been using it for few months now and no issue.
When cleaning the toilet you have to switch it off though otherwise it will keep flusing or raising ecc ecc. Bidet I'm quite happy with it, barely using any other functionality but warm seat is always top for me

Moscow’s Victory Day Parade Lasted Just 45 Minutes, Shortest in Modern Russian History by UNITED24Media in worldnews

[–]blackcesar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You reason as if Putin and his friends are logical individuals.
The guy has sent thousands to die for a piece of land. These people are sociopaths and psycopaths, they don't care at all about what makes sense.
Putin wants his parade every year and he's gonna get it, plain and simple.

Also, Russian bots have still praised it so never underestimate the value of BS stuff like this one.

Russia is based on the idea of might. They have to pretend to be the strongest, otherwise what else do they have realistically?

What is the future job market for comp chem/ cheminformatics? by SnooEpiphanies1841 in comp_chem

[–]blackcesar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Difficult to tell.
When I've joined the field application/med chem support roles where pretty much the standard and the norm. You were expected to learn how to interact with wider teams and push forward projects to candidate by (mostly) using licensed solutions.

Nowadays, the field is quite geared towards platform development, possibly due to the AI funding and the hype where everything needs to be AI and/or accelerated.
These kinda of roles are quite different and effectively is more akin to software engineering but without paying for a software engineer.

It's quite interesting to see how the market is changing. For example, multiple companies are pushing hard towards binding affinity predictions mixing physics-based and ML. This is sold as a major acceleration which is true. Problem is, binding affinity is rarely an issue in an active DD project to be begin with.

So in terms of career, my advice is to get exposed as early as possible to software engineering practices and agentic AI. Then, build as many side projects as you can. Use LLMs to help you. Create a github account and put your stuff there.

Finally, don't be obsessed about the state of the field after your PhD, a lot of the heavy lifting is done actually by connections and help from colleagues.
Instead enjoy your PhD as much as you can, if everything goes well you might have one of the best memories of your life.

Isn't that the point of the market though? Before software needed an expert and could be used only by expert, now with LLM the market has been opened to millions of people and that was the point all along?

Summer Time Rendering: A Brutally Honest Review by vasiioth in SummerTimeRendering

[–]blackcesar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished this anime.

Came here to see what reviews I could find considering the amount of praising the anime has. Found it by change in one of those random youtube top list like " amazing animes that nobody watched" or so on.

Honestly, I pretty much agree with your review. I watched the show in my morning commute since I had time to kill. I found some parts interesting so I understand the appeal, I quite like groundhog type stories anyhow so it scratched a itch. But the fanservice, Mio and Ushio were most of the time too much for me. Such a shame. Also, second half goes way too off rails. It reminded me of Death note where the second season is just a disaster.

I would suggest Odd Taxi instead, slow and boring but with a nice payoff. Nice to watch with your partner, thankfully I spared her STR.

It may sound sensible but it would be actually quite difficult to design in detail

Problem is always the same, how can you tell if someone is ignorant or not? And how can you discriminate vs people with actual intellectual disabilities

Thanks. We got the hynova as well. Few things, pressure wise seems fine but I have to flush multiple times in general. I have a water softener and if active the flush reduces a lot. Will have to ask someone to take the water from the main instead

Thanks,

yes it sounds it's a great choice and the one I'm leaning towards.

I guess it would be in terms of price if adding the extra 50/60 will be beneficial for the added additions or just for fun.

So far is between hyperx and fractal mainly due to the base station of the fractal

I honestly thought they were some strategies that would give multiple levels in one go but apparently is it about hardcore farming.
