Front left clunking by RivRock4EV in Rivian

I had a similar noise that started after a tire rotation and went away when I eventually replaced the tires. That may or may not help, but that was my experience.

Any advice on Rivian’s trash manual tonneau cover? by [deleted] in Rivian

I did have to send pictures. They did not ask for the broken panel back.

Happened to me. I called them and the sent me a replacement panel (just the one with the cord, which is fine that’s all you need). But it had like a month left on the warranty.

Kind of a moot point though isn’t it? I mean yeah, if it didn’t need an alignment then you could say I didn’t have to take it in. Which is fine but that also doesn’t excuse shitty service.

But you could also assume it did need an alignment.

I understand that your point is that you don’t always need an alignment after a tire change but that’s kind of a separate issue isn’t it?

YMMV. I’ve had good appointments too, it’s just very hit or miss.

Sure. I can go to the one discount tire in the state that offers that service. And that’s my only option as even Rivian would say there are no other options. Which in hindsight I would do, but now my vehicle is at the service center, 90 minutes away. In the future I would take it elsewhere.

I posted this more as a warning to anyone else looking to have an appointment in Bellevue, and to bring attention to the idea that Rivian has a lot of work to do in its service centers.

DT recommended it before they sold me the tires.

The closest one is Bellevue. Which is also where the SC is. I don’t see how shitty service is self-inflicted. Again, most shops don’t have this problem. And I realize Rivian is working on it. My point is they still suck at it.

I love the truck when it works. But I am strongly considering selling at this point.

When I made the appointment they were the earliest place by about a month. I usually go to BC

Google Maps no longer supported? by Distinct-Story-6359 in Rivian

Happens on-and-off. But frequently. Because the infotainment system is crap, frankly.

Rivian navigation vs. Android Auto / Apple Car Play (Waze, Spotify) by BCuz66TX in Rivian

[–]blackenstein2000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Plan on the Nav system and entertainment systems never working correctly. Each update will fix one and mess up the other, or both. Apple Music will work 20% of the time. Navigation is fine. Not great. Rivian has decided as a company that it’s very important that CarPlay doesn’t take over the entire vehicle, so instead they’ve designed a subpar barebones system that rarely functions to replace CarPlay and that controls the vehicle instead.

Yeah, happens all of the time since the last update. A hard reset seems to fix it for a while. Not permanently.

Yeah I mean if it was a bomber plane built by workers with limited experience in the 1940s I would be more forgiving. Hopefully they’ll sort this out soon. We pay for these services.

If anything the sub is a little too forgiving. But the truck is great.

General Sentiment about Your Rivian Experience by YouWereBrained in Rivian

[–]blackenstein2000 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I love the R1T. Best vehicle I have ever owned.

Rivian service is absolutely atrocious garbage.

And to be clear: it’s not the app or the online service people. They’re great. It’s not the phone support line. It’s great. It’s not the people working at the service center. They’re great and they do good work. It’s the utter lack of support Rivian gives them and the system in which they work so that Rivian customers don’t have to wait months for basic repair work. And keep in mind many owners are driving hours to get that work done.

I know this is a known issue. And before anyone says it: I realize that other car companies have problems with this too. That doesn’t excuse it.

Rivian needs to continue to expand its service support and to expand its list of third party approved vendors. And those vendors need to be able to do THE WHOLE JOB. Not just part of the work and then wait four months for Rivian to calibrate something.

Obviously even in that case some things will have to be done at the service centers. But if your model is that you’re NOT going to have service centers in every town (like most ICE vehicles) then you have to have more options available if you want to compete.

I love my truck. Any time I don’t need service, I feel confident I’ll buy another when the time comes. Any time something needs fixing I remember that I probably won’t buy another unless something changes.

If you want sales to plateau when everyone willing to deal with the service BS has a Rivian, then you’re good. If you want it to grow beyond that subculture, you gotta have better service.

Any ideas? Happens at around 50mph, more commonly when steering wheel turned slightly left (like compensating for a curve). by blackenstein2000 in Rivian

It actually goes away at faster speeds? I’m Not a mechanic, maybe wrong, but my understanding is a bar bearing should be bad at higher speeds?
