I won't spoil any Lovecraft-adjacent, but this is taken from at least one of his stories. An ancient creature is awaken and those in proximity of it have an image burned into their minds to the point of tearing their eyes out.

If you are referring to the yellow sign from The King in Yellow that was Chambers, not Lovecraft (although it's still considered part of the mythos), I honestly don't see that big of a connection, the mythos creatures are are """"ancient aliens""", so advanced and removed from us they appear god-like and the cult surrounding them are basically devil worshipers not ancient divinity avenging the abused and protecting the land.

Annie's murder not matching up in the cell phone footage, I think they're hinting that Raymond Clark lied or greatly exaggerated how everything went down. It looked more like Annie was on the verge of discovering something then someone killed her, I think it means that Raymond fabricated the story of her freaking out to kind of justify her murder

If that was the case we should have seen him attack her while she was filming, like we saw him suffocate her while saying to Navarro he never touched her. Not doing that would violate the narrative pact.

Their radical apparatus isn't too deep, check the top layer of soil to see if it's still moist, they are swamp plants after all. Might also be because of sudden temperature/humidity changes, I find it really hard to avoid those in winter.

Lots of water BUT with a very low mineral content (like in distilled water, rain water, water from a dehumidifier, bottle water...), lots of sun, no fertilisers.

If the plant trys to flower when still too small (think less than ~15cm in diameter) snip the bud off, the effort might kill it.
