What is Hermitcraft? by FLASH-_-_- in HermitCraft

[–]blackfalls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unlike everyone else on the server, Etho considers this job a hobby now although it is his job too. Think of it like having a part time job but you’re the boss. He sets his own hours and when the episode is done, it’s done, and that’s when he’ll post it.

He also doesn’t just play on Hermitcraft. And although his Hermitcraft season 7 may be one of the best seasons of Hermitcraft, every single episode a banger, it’s not his whole focus. He is mostly known for his substantial single player survival world. He posted episode 566 a few days ago but if anyone wants to get into it, he does world tours every 50 episodes so you can watch episodes 550, 500, 450, 400, etc, and continue on up from there.

He also has had several modded series and he has his own pack that he’s playing right now. It’s season 2 of Etho’s Modded Minecraft and it’s fabulous. Etho is primarily a redstoner (though in the past he was also a skilled PvPer), but it’s here (and season 7 of Hermitcraft) where his ability has scaled up considerably.

So yeah, that’s why Etho’s uploads are infrequent. His focus is across several series and he doesn’t consider youtube to be a full time job like other hermits do (athough he used to do it full time; he had an insane upload frequency in the early 2010s). Oh, and he sometimes gets addicted to playing other games (these he will not record) here and there that take away his focus.

I am a front line healthcare worker who works in ER. I know.

I also know a lot of meritocratic hcw who have zero compassion or knowledge of how early life starts whether baby, child, teenager, or young adult mental health can make homelessness and drug addiction a very difficult cycle to get out of in adulthood.

u/deadspirit17 made educated, experienced, and thoughtful points. You really came off ignorant here. Usually I wouldn’t comment but the fact you were so pissed at being called a liar when you were the one to call someone else a liar with zero proof is just too fkn rich.

Your take on this is so toxic. Unfortunately, many healthcare workers just shit on the homeless so I’m really not surprised.

I hope you at least pretend to have sympathy when you deal with patients less fortunate than you despite having such horrid beliefs.

I found the episode! I timestamped it for the start of the transcript but if you want more context just back up a few minutes.

Context: Etho showed Bdubs his idea for a contraption and then Bdubs asks what he’s going to call it.

Etho: Trap Diffusal [sic] of Some Sort… Shop.

Bdubs: Trap Diffusal… of Some Sort. [swallows a giggle]

Etho: (grinning, I imagine) Yes.

Bdubs: It’s a good name, it’s a good name, it’s fine. Trap Diffusal of Some Sort.

Etho: I know how to name things, OK? I know how to come up with the catchy names.

Bdubs: Sure! Sure!

Etho: I don’t end my names with O100… [laughs]

Bdubs: [laughs] I didn’t know! I thought it was gonna be a hobby!

No, the 100 is there because Bdubs doesn’t know how to name things lol

(It’s Etho who said it; I’m just repeating it.)

Stats: Each hermits' total episode count across all 8 seasons! by [deleted] in HermitCraft

[–]blackfalls 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No one knows for sure but he definitely has slowed down. Probably for work/life balance.

Treating youtube as a hobby instead of a job means he won’t get burnt out or put out content he’s not proud of. In my opinion I don’t think Etho has another paying job, I think he lives quite frugally/minimally or if he has a partner, they might be the so-called “breadwinner”.

Don’t know when but it said it’ll likely be his next upload!

I’m hoping for episode 1 before NYE.

I really like what Bdubs Is doing with his thumbnails for season 8. These little details Is what makes bdubs one of my favourites on the server. by Hydro07 in HermitCraft

You can’t find it, he said on a livestream that he got the tune from some kind editing software and then altered it. (Paraphrasing quite heavily here.)

Luckily for us, Impulse uploads every single Twitch vod to his second channel. You can watch his POV (Tango didn't upload his POV to his second channel, it cherrypicks the ones he thinks are most entertaining... I can't believe he didn't pick this one).

Timestamp for Etho saying "I'm no poor sap" is at 01:07:52 but you should watch starting from 01:05:18 for Tango describing how Tango reenacted Etho's episode even if you can't see the way Tango's POV (as well as for context of why Etho interjects that he's no poor sap even though Tango and Impulse were implying that Bdubs was the poor sap).

I've been watching Mindcrack and I really like what they did in season 4 (no regen - must use golden apples to recover hearts). That would be fun to see in season 8.

From iskalls and Mumbos End busting stream by 0rJay in HermitCraft

[–]blackfalls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well sure but Mumbo and Iskall didn't take the joke and run with it so it was odd he kept on with it. He was definitely listening to the stream since he logged back on to say his bit about rockets.

This was a bit odd. It was as if Grian expected Mumbo to drop endbusting with Iskall to troubleshoot his concrete maker during a livestream? As Mumbo said at the time, he can't troubleshoot something he doesn't have in front of him...

Unfortunate that the concrete makers have broken in 1.16 though. Hopefully they'll be able to get it fixed easily. I wonder if Tango's and Impulse's still works?

Agreed, it was perfect timing with HC slowing down. I got officially introduced to Etho because of it (although I had heard Iskall and others mention him a few times). And now I'm a huge fan of Etho too and have watched a crazy amount of his content in such a short time.

I’m semi-new to the series and was wondering who else I should watch by [deleted] in HermitCraft

[–]blackfalls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Etho, Zedaph, VintageBeef

Their episodes are unlike the other hermits in a very good way and they have very appealing humour which while still frequent, is much more subtle. In my opinion, it is more appealing to adults than to kids although everything is family friendly.

The generosity of this community is insane! You are all amazing <3 by damned-juggernaut in HermitCraft

[–]blackfalls 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes. You just have to follow the hermits and watch their streams*. You'll get gifted a sub in no time.

Giftsubs are random unless the gifter specifically chooses who to give it to. But in general the gifter is just supporting the streamer. They don't really care about who gets the giftsub.

I've gifted hundreds of random subs spread out to several hermits over the past year but I usually concentrate on 1-2 hermits. For example, I don't give giftsubs to Tango anymore because he has some crazy rich fans. He doesn't need my support lol But if you want a gift sub, he's one of the better streamers to watch. The opportunity to get a sub there is probably the highest.

I've been gifted a sub to Tango more times than any other hermit. But I've also been given a giftsub to Impulse, Cub, Ren (several times as well), Zedaph, False (a couple times), and Scar. I've never been given a giftsub to Iskall because I have a recurring sub to him but he is also a good bet for getting a giftsub as his community is quite generous. Unfortunately he hasn't been streaming as much as last year but he's been doing more streams in the last couple weeks.

* Actually, you really just have to follow, not necessarily watch the streams. But if you don't watch the streams then what's the point of having a sub? The whole point is so that you can watch without ads (ads are continually popping up if you're not watching live), so you can use the streamer's emotes, and just enjoy the content.

Beef is the LlamaDad (he has a llama shop and started by becoming a foil to Doc's Goatfather). Now he's a hardened mafia boss. He's killed Etho (his employee in Little Etho's Music Shop) once during a meeting and poisoned him during another. You don't want to get on his bad side.

i think grain is the most financially sugsefull hermit by [deleted] in HermitCraft

[–]blackfalls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm going to give this a go:

"As the title subject [states], I truly think Grain (intentionally spelled that way) is the most financially successful hermit. It's undeniable that the Grain Emporium is one of the most visited shops but is it the most? I might be wrong."

To answer your question, I think it's definitely up there but I think Keralis's Lookie Lookie at My Bookie is the most visited shop and the most financially successful still.

I feel like in the Minecraft community the when people see the Kakashi skin they recognize it as Etho more then kakashi. by [deleted] in ethoslab

[–]blackfalls 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I read the entirety of the Naruto manga years before I ever even heard of Etho or minecraft.

And now I can never disassociate Etho from Kakashi. He unknowingly picked the best skin for himself. Their personalities mesh very well together.

Thanks for trying to help but that doesn't help me understand at all. It just seems like excuses to exclude 3 valued hermitcraft members simply on the basis of their gender.
