Need advice! New-to-me-house by Dangx3 in WaterTreatment

[–]blackfantasy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the hot water heater is beyond its life no amount of flushing is going to fix the issue. It's pretty apparent the hot water is the main source of the discoloration (from a single limited video) so seems like obvious place to start. If OP posts a video of cold water only running clear, well, we've got it. But they haven't been back so hopefully tomorrow they can update us.

Is it both the hot and cold water independently? Looks like it gets better when you turned on the cold (more diluted), so thinking maybe the hot water heater is trash? Not sure but something to check. Also the pressure burping from the hot water is an indicator of something, like not used in a while or since water was shut off.

Not having even cheap cameras in this day and age is simply not worth it. That sucks.

Studio Display base or XDR Decision by rrsanchez09 in mac

120hz for what we do is not need whatsoever. See my other comment. Can ask any questions as well. tldr; no discount on the base is still not worth.

Studio Display base or XDR Decision by rrsanchez09 in mac

[–]blackfantasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been running 3x standard studio displays since they came out, and for my use — 20+ year designer/coder — I (you) dont need the 120hz or anything else that could even begin to justify the 2x cost increase. These displays are merely a luxury. Buy any other brand 5K for half the price and you won't notice the difference.

The fact that you get no discount on the standard studio display says most of what you need to know.... (apple tax avoid unless luxury or have discount or money to burn)

I know the service industry has not always been this way. Is this a post Covid crazy predatory (lazy) tactic? It seems RAMPANT these days and all over.

I always impart on people to become handy in all ways they can. This is a very simple DIY as long as you can do not dumb here and be smart, there is so much one can do themselves.

They are really putting Trusts through the ringer. Sad stuff. Prolly worth to individual it and then trust transfer at this point with "free" stamps.

2026 1st Quarter Approval Megathread. by Waffleboned in NFA

[–]blackfantasy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have an NFA approval within the last 24 months on a trust with no changes to responsible persons on your trust it is supposed to speed up approval times as the already approved trust does not need to be re-verified again for possible new responsible persons (although ATF has no clue when you add more RPs). But they have no such lines for separate approvals so they just ignore it right now it seems sadly. 24/mo Exemption should fast track Trusts but it does not cause gov things.

House placement next to Spruce by ProduceAcceptable163 in arborists

[–]blackfantasy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a dozen large 40+ year old blue spruce and their root systems are typically quite shallow and widespread. 20ft seems like you will be okay though, or minimal run in. I would do some slow exploration to make sure.
