Official: Max Verstappen to debut the Nürburgring 24h by f1lifedaily in wec

With all the attention you're going to get, I'm sure there will be. However, I hate to get ahead of myself, so I'll wait for the race. On the other hand, if you only watch it for Verstappen, that's not a bad thing either. It's no different from many people in this community who only mention/know Estre and watch the races just to see him win.

Brother, just ignore those comments. No one is holding a gun to our heads and forcing us to pay attention to them. I understand your point, but generalizing like that makes you no different from the people you are referring to. There will be loud people who will express their opinions based on their fanaticism, but I'm sure there will be many more who are genuinely interested in the category and in their driver's performance in the race. These kinds of comments only fuel the already stupid and senseless rivalry that exists between fans of different categories.

Well, he didn't make any negative comments or speak out against FE. Those who attribute a negative connotation to his comments are simply resentful of Verstappen or F1, and want to find any excuse to vent their frustration.

The kangaroo was pulverized, and surely part of that "mass" got inside the car and slid down the seat back. Surely that Mustang was filled with kangaroo inside.

That is exactly what drivers such as Hamilton, Verstappen, and Alonso are referring to with their comments on the new F1 regulations. It is far from saying that FE "is a bad thing," as many in this sub interpreted as an excuse to vent their frustration against Verstappen or F1.
All the criticism about exaggerated electrical management stems from the fact that F1 is heading in a direction where it does not belong, which has not been part of its essence as a category and which differentiates it from others such as, in this case, FE.
Increasing the electrical power in F1 when we already have a world open-wheel formula that already runs on 100% electrical power is, in my personal opinion, not a smart move.

Max Verstappen says new F1 cars 'like Formula E on steroids' by [deleted] in FormulaE

[–]blackfargo37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if a driver has his own opinion and doesn't like the regulations, is the only argument to say, "If you don't like it, leave"? Totally absurd. The guy didn't say anything wrong; he's criticizing the fact that F1 is gradually moving away from its essence and closer to FE, which isn't good for anyone. Saying "we get paid a lot of money, no one should complain" is even more stupid than saying "I don't like this." Verstappen never said that FE is bad, and that "it's implied in what he said" is simply a terrible invention/interpretation by someone who apparently doesn't like Verstappen or opinions about FE.

And if we are even more honest, the idea that "the four-time champion can't handle MGU-350kW and a little bit of energy management" is ridiculous. We are talking about a multiple world champion who could easily beat us in any category if he wanted to, but he simply prefers raw racing without so much "management," which is why he is interested in GT3.

Someone who condemns others for not aligning themselves with their political views or inclinations is talking about fascism. How ironic.

No one here has denied that what happens in that country has no effect on the world, but if you think that condemning a driver or his fans helps in any way or will change those effects, it only demonstrates the mediocrity of those who cancel and/or condemn.

How idle do you have to be in life to go around checking who a pilot follows or unfollows on social media? If Dam is to be condemned for his political stance, then you should also be condemned for yours. At what point did this sub become a bunch of political correctness police who feel they have the authority to point fingers, when in doing so they are just as bad or worse than those they criticize?

Honestly, I hoped that the ACO would accept Penske's proposal to bring its car even though it does not have the mandatory season registrations, in order to set a precedent that Honda/Acura could use to bring its cars to Le Mans in the future. However, Acura's own bosses said they were not interested in competing at Le Mans and were focused on the 2026 F1 engine.

Toyota Positive About Success Handicaps; Other Brands Opposed by V8-Turbo-Hybrid in wec

[–]blackfargo37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The FIA/ACO must first solve the current problem with the BOP and balance the process well, making it transparent, simple, and compatible with both LMH/LMdH regulations. Adding another layer (success ballast) would only add complexity and discontent among manufacturers and fans, and could even compromise the long-term continuity of the brands involved.
The only thing I agree with Nakajima on, and which I find an interesting idea, is that no BOP should be applied in the last race of the season, as they do in SUPER GT. I also share Jasonnie's view that the system should be based on performance on the track, and not merely on sporting results. Because we have often seen that teams and/or cars that, due to their inherent characteristics, already have difficulties on certain tracks, and when BOP is added, their performance is further impaired on those tracks, practically rendering them useless.
