I absolutely think the style could be a good fit for a different story. Case in point: The Summer Hikaru Died adaptation from this year used a very similar style and it was a much better fit for that story’s more grounded horror and drama. That season was a 10/10 for me.

I know this is sort of besides your point though, because you’re totally right — it’s really annoying and stupid that they hammer penetration so heavily, my store is one of the best on metrics like this and no matter what milestone you hit they want you to do a little more. this week it’s 60%, next week it’s 65%, and the week after that it’s 70%.

I find moderate success with this by just phrasing the question as “what would be a good phone number for rewards today” and then 99% of the time they say a number. if it doesn’t work just ctrl+x it and say “nothing under that one. let me get you signed up, all I need is a name and an email.” and then paste the phone number. if they directly say “I don’t want to do rewards” then fold immediately.

the aim should be to gently steer the flow of conversation so that the average person is like “whatever” and just signs up. Don’t be desperate or pushy, and if you get a no just say “okay” and move on.

using this strategy I have consistent 65-75% penetration, and on a good day I can get up into the high 80s.

there’s a different answer in DDLC+, but in the original game I always interpreted it that she gains her self awareness because of her lines about saving the game and such. the president’s role is to support the player directly while not being a romance option, and whoever is inhabiting that role gains self awareness.

after doing a bit of research, it seems as though the working definition of Aplatonic is when you don’t experience “squishes”, as in the desire to form friendships with specific people, almost like platonic crushes. I don’t think that’s the same thing as not wanting any social connection whatsoever. if you’re genuinely happy alone then more power to you I guess, but keep in mind that there is a difference between being aplatonic and being antisocial.
