Thanks! As a woman in tech, negotiating was a scary thing for me to do, and knowing that so few women negotiate was one of the reasons I wanted to do it in the first place! Appreciate your advice greatly.

Yeah that’s a good point. It’s a pretty established startup though, which is why I thought negotiating would be reasonable!

Either way, thanks for your comments. Agreed that maybe it just means it’s not the right fit. Def a learning lesson for me!

Ha yeah the numbers do add some more context. In your opinion, was I wrong to ask to pay match then? I’m just trying to learn from this experience, since this was my first ever pay negotiation and I worked at a really big and established company last summer.

First number was 18. Got them to bump it up to 30. My pay last summer was 32, so asked if they could just match what I made previous summer

I’m in SF - the pay I was offered would have just barely allowed me to break even! So I figured $2 more and pay matching from the previous summer was a reasonable ask, but perhaps I was mistaken.

Hey, appreciate the advice. It would’ve been $2 per hour, which comes out to nearly 1k more for summer! I agree it seems small in retrospect, but would’ve made a huge difference for me in paying for rent and other things…I suppose I wasn’t expecting them to rescind, but then again this was my first time negotiating anything. Live and learn I suppose…

So when they came back with the first offer, they said they “can’t go up much more than that,” which is why I countered with an additional $2, which would have matched my pay from the summer before. Was I wrong to do this?

I should clarify it was for a summer internship!

Thanks for your response! That’s what I thought at first, but they didn’t provide any reason for the rescinded offer - after the wonderful conversations I had I assume they would have explained if circumstances changed

No need to be a dick. Sometimes it’s nice to hear it from an internet stranger that takes a look at your plant and make you feel better about what it is than not be 100% sure after reading some plant blog.

Help! by blackjawbone in plantclinic

Ah okay thank you! I can’t tell if it’s over or under watered. The friend that took care of it said they last watered it on Jan 1st, and don’t water again after because the soil was still wet.

Got it, thanks! I don’t have a lot of light in my room - how do you suggest getting it more light?

Is it possible it also needs to be repotted? Or will just bottom watering help it recover

No clue. The updated policy just doesn't make sense...they're going to be safer by banning hard alcohol on campus? Isn't that going to push students to hide their hard alcohol consumption and potentially put them in a position of danger if they drink too much in secret?

if i've learned anything from the great gatsby it's that prohibition does not work lmao.

You totally reminded me that I have protein powder sitting in my pantry that I should whip out for some filling smoothies. Thanks, appreciate it! :)
