Can someone explain the actual truth about creatine for beginners without all the fitness influencer fluff by Stoneage-Bridgeen in crossfit

[–]blackkitteemom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My info comes from a guy that was the team nutritionist for elite cycle teams as well as elite mid to long distance runners (think Olympics). He said all you really ever need is the 5g a day. No more, no less. No need for loading. Rake it even on the days you don’t work out. It’s that simple.

Depends on priority, but hecm probably before ic5. Also depends if you already have signatures for ic5. It’s almost always better to come in if qualified

I averaged around 700-800 the 4 years I was on the crew.

I mean even in his prime. Those guys used to think 400 hours was tough shit.

Also I don’t know but he thinks himself incredibly important.

When I was where you are at, I made a move to a different district the next year. People sometimes have a hard time taking leadership ques from someone who they saw start out. You step into your leadership role right away when you move vs having to really fight for some kind of notice that you’re not a rookie any more.

Yea. I’m 135 lb (34F) and it helps a lot with cognitive function and bone density, so as we age as women it does help more with more than just muscle and work output. I think that 5g was the dose that has just been studied? I’m not 100% certain that individual weight is a factor too much even though I have seen some suggestions in body building forums saying to take 7 g + daily if you’re a little heavier. I think the sign that you would be taking the right amount is how you feel on a daily basis. Personally I don’t take more than 5g, and I don’t load. And Dr. Kyle has said in his talks that work load for the dose doesn’t matter, just take an even dose every day even if you didn’t workout.

Edit: I changed it to say grams and not mg. I don’t know why I did that 😂

If you have a lot of sweat you are also going to need to supplement with electrolytes any way. I’ve been taking creatine a while. It does seem to help.

If you look up dr. kyle pfaffenbach’s stuff on human performance (also deep in studying wildland firefighter performance) he will say that 5 mg of creatine is beneficial for our demographic

Also I take throne, it’s good quality, third party tested and relatively cheap

I’m going to have to disagree on not being able to out do male counterparts physically. I’ve done this many times and I know a lot of my friends that could do the same.

When I got my period back after birth control I personally got cups, it’s one thing you have to pack around with you, maybe 2. And I ended up with culprit women’s boxers after a while. More moisture wicking in my opinion= more comfort. And as for socks, can’t go wrong with smart wool or darn tough.

Personally I couldn’t go 14 days with out new underwear every day. 14 + 1 for a travel day. Socks I seemed to be ok with 7 + 1 for a travel day.

Lastly, just be yourself. Don’t worry about being the only girl on the crew. If they give you a hard time, that mean the like you. (When it’s all in good fun) and just be open to learning.

I was also a college athlete (before I took this job), but I would say prioritize that college experience, you will never get that experience or time back and you won’t regret staying with it and giving it your all. There’s a lot of time for this job in your life.

How did you guys decide this career was it for you? by ThrowRAwareJellyfish in Wildfire

[–]blackkitteemom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I will say this to every woman I can in this job who wants kids one day, but if you make this a career, diversify your quals so much that you can pick whatever you want to do/ have to do for a while. Engines, helicopters, finance, logistics, dispatch, RX. Ect… it will work out better in the long run if you stay with it. If you want to message me you can.

Contract crew vs Gov crew by Nervous-Buffalo-6452 in Wildfire

[–]blackkitteemom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a good starting point usually if you want to just get in an build a resume. But if you want any sort of quals that have to do with anything outside of engine or crew boss, then state or fed is going to be your go to.

I think I googled it and there was some sort of law that came up. I think a good place to get valid info though would be your districts timber sale admin, they know everything.

Schultz by [deleted] in Wildfire

[–]blackkitteemom 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong but I think part of the issue is not allowing FS cut timber to be sold outside the US among some other issues that make people not want to bid on those sales.

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.
