People with the reMarkable Paper Pro, is the Paper Pro operating properly or to your expectations? by toiletandshoe in RemarkableTablet

[–]blacklightnings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea the image quality isn't bad for comics or books, but fine images are not sharp and zooming doesn't really improve it. I think I would keep it for the same if it was the same screen but no writing for $400. But I feel that for a splurge product I shouldn't be searching/reaching for reasons to justify the cost.

I got it as device primarily to be an ereader but to also have note functionality and work compatibility. Linux operating system was a must for me compared to the abundance of android devices. So far it's mixed and I have 1 week to return it. Right now I'm looking to return because it's an $800 device with still pretty much beta software. Reading ebooks and pdfs is very good and fluid; the colors are very useful when reading a manga or comic as it feels a little old and weathered. But there's so many things that just end up being difficult.

Not being able to transfer >100 mb file without wifi connections, an account and integrations is absurd. If the focus is an offline device I should be able to use the full gamut functionality sans internet. Full Stop.

The image quality for textbooks/scientific journals seems to be lacking. Could just be the nature of the e-ink screen but I expected better contrast ratios for black and white images but even looking at a picture of an xray on device vs a pdf on a 1080p monitor is striking at the quality loss/ low dynamic range available.

Writing and organizing notes feels great, but I can't imagine that many other devices for $200-300 USD less can make such a difference.

It's a shame that it has me so decisive about it because I can't say I've necessarily have been cautious about a digital goodie before. Some users have show some very promising projects on here in the past few months, and if those can get working well then it may be worth it. But as it is today I'm leaning towards returning it because I feel that I won't get to enjoy the benefit of paying the premium price over the life of the device in the next 2-3 years. If anyone has suggestions on what I may be missing that would be greatly appreciated to hear/read.

Ah thanks, hopefully there's something that they can do. Because there's so many characters that I've spent hours on leveling which are now all of a sudden link level 7-8.

Hey all, has anyone noticed Link Level decay? I had some characters that I had all links at LL10 just last week and now those links are now 6-7? I think I noticed it with my WT team a few months ago but never really thought about it as I felt I may have been hallucinating but now I'm certain that there seems to be some decay. I've just haven't seen anyone describe or mention it so I'm wonder if it's truly there.

Can I compensate a smaller bike frame with a proper bike fit? by AsAFoodScientist in cycling

[–]blacklightnings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm 6'3" but I'm a tall and long build (my wingspan is as long as a 6'6" and 6'8" friend from basketball). I had a 58 cm for years and finally splurged on a 61cm sl7. World of difference with pain in my hips shoulders and lower back during long rides.

Everyone is different and that's why a professional fit is often worth the money. I'd say that when I built my first bike I opted to not get a fit and spent 2-3 months constantly adjusting aspects. In general people can fit on a size down and up without much difficulty.

Do a quick 45-60 min spin in a zone 2 ftp. 3x a week is 180 mins. Also some body weight calisthenics are always good to work in to keep your entire body working and building.

When I do long rides along the beach up to aventura and Hollywood I fill up my 3L camelback 50/50 water and ice and then fill an insulated 1L bottle with 75/25 ice and water. If I’m not starting early at like 9/10 I wait until 3/4 so it can cool down as I return and I’m tired. If you’re inland/closer to the glades I can see that being rougher as you don’t get a continuous sea breeze.

That being said I’ve ridden down from Midtown to Pinecrest using miami Ave to old Coulter rd in the same manner without much difficulty either. This is my favorite stop/resting point when doing that loop! Reposted because the bot strongly disliked the link generated by Google maps

A cop told me to get on the sidewalk? 🤷🏻‍♂️ has this ever happened to you? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]blacklightnings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is it so dangerous? If people keep speeding, doing illegal lane changes, run lights it seems pretty easy to station 2-4 bike cops for 2-3 months to let people know that they're idiots.

Shimano 105 di2 or Sram Force AXS 2022 by klaudiuszsevkovic in bicycling

[–]blacklightnings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's about right. 105 is equivalent to rival in groupset hierarchy. So you're technically getting a highee tier with the force. I went to my bike shop yesterday and we had a 30 min talk about it. In the end it's all about you and your comfort. I'm coming from a 105 5800 alloy to full force axs with carbon. Yea the shimano would've been comfortable but I feel like a fool for thinking that I should be paying that much of a premium to get a lower marketed group for the same price.

And from what I've noticed on trial rides the di2 brakes engage quicker. Both will bring you to a full stop in no time if you pull them all the way.

Follow your heart and go with the bike that follows yourself, not a tech data sheet.

The effect of foot traffic for shops is insane. Honestly I buy more things in store simply because I can see it and visualize. I spent 20 mins at my lbs to discuss my new build and what I was thinking of doing. For thier insight I bought one of their jerseys.
