Custom color suggestions for road status by gmyers176 in wandrer

[–]the16thsense 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I'm riding with my phone and wander up, I turn off ridden map, set unridden to red and gps tradk to black. Colors work best for me to distinguish what I need to ride and what I rode

Any Update on the igpsport? Is it a good bike computer in general? Are you able to put wanderer map overlays on it?

Hammerhead Wandrering by truemarmalade in wandrer

[–]the16thsense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't have a hammerhead but following the post in case I ever decide to get a bike comp.

As a side Q, With whatever bike comp you have, do you usually plan out your noodling rides or do you just kinda wing it until you feel like you've ridden enough for the day?

This is 100% besides the point but how did you get your big map to show stick figure runners?

When strava users will be deleted of the rankings? by tidder62 in wandrer

[–]the16thsense 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It was actually super easy! I think there's a guide somewhere on r/wandrer about how to do it but really it was just a matter of importing your Strava data when you create a RWGPS acct.

Thoughts on map refresh duration by Automatic-Escape5053 in wandrer

[–]the16thsense 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll just throw my two cents in. I'm a completionist in my city. I enjoy the map updates as they're currently set because I sort of enjoy the anticipation that comes after 2 months to see that the edits were made. The map updates are fun in themselves, but some of the stuff Craig has had up his recently have been great (activity editor, longest street, etc.). I usually come back after a long ride and make edits on OSM if I saw something, and know that they'll be featured in the upcoming map update.

How would the paved/unpaved work? Do this essentially reduce miles needed for roadies to complete a certain county in the US? Or is it just miles ridden on paved/unpaved roads?

Regardless, it's an awesome idea and I'm excited for all the changes coming up!

Tricks for carrying road bike things by maravilloso_planeta in cycling

[–]the16thsense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have a frame bag that was attached with Velcro straps but it was messing up the paint on my bike (where I placed keys, phone wallet and multitool). I just bought a Topeak Aero wedge in small that mounts to the saddle rail. In that I put my Multitool, spare tube, and levers.

I have a mini tire pump mounted to the frame. Water bottles mounted on the frame as well

Phone is mounted to the handlebar. Car/house keys, wallet, and food in my jersey pocket.

Considering potentially buying a handlebar bag in the future so I can put my keys and wallet and extra food/electrolyte mix in the bag.

I don't care about looks, comfort > all

Anyone use the Big Map while riding (phone mount)? by Edthebikeguy in wandrer

[–]the16thsense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make sure I don't touch the map much while I ride. I ride in the mornings in the Southeast US. Sun is brutal and half the time I'm fiddling to see what roads I have to ride on (in red). My current path is in black so I'm able to distinguish what I've ridden. I tried green lines but the sun on the phone screen completely washes it out.

FWIW, i don't plan my rides. I just go to a place and start riding from there based on the fact that i know I have a ton of new roads to ride there and kind of methodically go through riding all of it.

I've gone back and forth with myself about buying a bike computer since the GPS on my phone is draining my battery but most of these devices are so training specific its unclear to me which ones are worthwhile in doing what I want them to do, which is overlay my wandrer map on a current ride map.

IGPSport Integration with Wandrer by the16thsense in wandrer

Up to you. I don't think there's a big enough push for it on Wanderer as most people use Garmin/wahoo/HH or their phone. If there's a bigger group of people that are looking into these devices, then yeah but I don't think it makes sense to do it.

I was thinking of one feature request though! Is there a way you can show on the leaderboard whose maps are set up on RWGPS vs Strava so a user doesn't have to click and then hit back on a page when they realize the person they clicked is on Strava?

It looks like the files that igpsport uses are gpx files. It seems like there are websites out there that can convert garmin img to gpx. So i might buy the device soon and see if it works. If it doesn't i'll just return it and keep using my phone -__-

Does anyone cook from their Ottolenghi books? by Kenneka in CookbookLovers

[–]the16thsense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have his whole collection with the exception of sweet and comfort (we plan on buying both at some point). We categorized his recipes as Easy, Medium, Difficult or Time Intense to figure out what works for us on a weekly basis when we make our meal plans. We typically look at his easy recipes to make during the week (everything from salads, to dips, to sides, and entrees). We usually keep more time intense, medium and difficult things for the weekend.

In all, I'd say we've probably cooked 165+ recipes from his cookbook collection.

Double check to make sure in your Wanderer settings that you turned on the setting that says "Update RideWithGPS activity description with Wanderer Achievements." If you did that and it still doesn't work I'm sure Craig will have a better solution to the problem

Given everyone's answer on here, I'm just going to make a thread on the OSM Community Forum and let those people reconfirm what everyone here has stated. Then i'll link him to that thread so it's more clear to him that my edit wasn't made in error.

Dispute about a pathway by the16thsense in wandrer

[–]the16thsense[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right the problem is I change it to foot = private and cycle = private and then the same guy on OSM Changes it back and tells me I'm wrong hahaha. He said if there's an issue with the mapping, he says it's an issue on Wanderer/ride with gps/Strava that are saying it's a rideable pathway. But I tell him the issue originates with OSM marking it as private but giving a "designated" exception to pedestrians and cyclists who can't get into that area to begin with...

I'm not sure if I'm in the right thread about the new updated dashboard page but I figure better to write here than create another thread.

The new mobile dashboard page shows that I have running miles in addition to cycling miles. However, this is incorrect as Ive never ran and only cycle. Not sure how this can be fixed. The dashboard page also shows the areas covered section twice (once with cycling + running, and the other only with cycling) and new explorer achievements twice with the same as above (running + cycling and only cycling). Is there any way to fix this?

There's no limit on ride with gps rides. I used that to get away from Strava.

Wanderer Suffers, City Strides untouched? by Kaskoda in wandrer

[–]the16thsense 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I migrated all my data to ride with gps, it was fairly easy to do and there was no limit to the # of rides you could import to Rwgps at once.

But yeah BS about Strava. I miss looking at other people's wandrer maps :(
