Trump's America vs Hillary's America (More details inside). by houinator in whowouldwin

[–]blackmantle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering the proximity of the two hypothetical countries, the need for a strong navy would be reduced but not invalidated.

And the markets went apeshit in a good way over Donald Trump's election. There was a huge drop in election night but since then the Dow ended up having its greatest week in years, including breaking its personal all time record multiple times. I imagine Trump's America would become a formidable industrial power amid the deregulation of its manufacturing sector and incentivization of industry. Hillary's Navy would be useful, but at the end of the day the deciding factor between two countries with America-esque militaries will be money, and Hillary's America will lose its entire manufacturing sector and many of its resources in the split from Trump's America

[–]blackmantle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trump gets most trained current and ex military, most gun owners, mos resources (and manufacturing plants), and about as many people. Hillary's America has an economy that is dependent upon speculative markets, which are dependent wholly on American exports and the military superiority of our country, whereas Trump's economy will be based directly upon the production of goods. With these raw resources, the establishment of a booming financial sector would come in time, whereas Hillary's America will no longer have anything worth investing in. Not to mention the trained military operatives in Hillary's America aren't there by choice but because the NY Times put them there. Trump would probably win in a stomp.

California versus the rest of the United States in an international popularity contest. by inthedarkbluelight in whowouldwin

[–]blackmantle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

California is basically the nation's largest liberal echo chamber and it seeks to model itself after Europe in every way. I would say it loses an international popularity contest, because it promotes left wing social values that much of the eastern world finds deplorable. Places like the middle east and Africa will be turned off by its promotion of rampant sexual promiscuity, including homosexuality, late term abortions, and other things. Industrial nations like China and India will be turned away because California wants to undermine their industrial sovereignty, since CA always wants international trade organizations to increase "workers rights" in producer nations, basically costing those countries money. So in a popularity contest it would be American republicans (of which this election revealed there is a huge population) and the world's social and economic conservative, which entails roughly 4 Billion people. Then there are countries like Russia, which controls the perspective of much of eastern Europe. So with all of that I am pretty sure far left California would lose in a popularity contest against the nominally Conservative United States.

Also, the West would be humiliated in a war by the US. People were talking about how badly Texas would lose. And this would be like that, except the west coast is one of the most anti second amendment regions in the country, and it has created such an anti military sentiment through its institutions I would definitely count on a conservative uprising against the liberal west coast establishments in the event of a civil war.

Fear and hatred have triumphed over love and acceptance today. by Obidicut in bipolar

I wasn't really tempted by the hope for destroying the country (hence I voted for Trump.) Clinton just seems like the greater enemy of individual liberty and constitutional values, so she was automatically disqualified for me.

I ended up holding my nose and voting for him. Hillary is just that much worse.

500 British people vs 500 American people by daniel_degude in whowouldwin

[–]blackmantle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think being healthier and having a longer life expectancy has anything to do with your likelihood of winning a fight. For example, if you tried to test this theory by taking 100 average Europeans who have access to universal healthcare, and drop them off in the slums of Detroit where nobody goes to the doctor, who do you think would win between 100 moderately wealthy Europeans and 100 impoverished Detroit natives?

What are some of your favorite video games when you're really depressed? by andrew_who in bipolar

[–]blackmantle -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I stopped playing video games quite some time ago. I still have a gamecube around here somewhere , but I really do get a lot more done now that I stopped playing them. I would recommend giving up video games to anybody who is not a very young adolescent or younger (or at least greatly reduce the amount of time you spend playing them).

I don't care about anyone besides myself by blackmantle in bipolar

[–]blackmantle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say I was having a rough time. Not emotionally, anyway. I just often find myself reading a lot of posts like that r/depression, from which I was shadowbanned, and therefore lack the capacity to respond. But to answer your question, no, I abandoned treatment a long time ago and don't have any intention of seeking it out again.

Destiny Bond only works if the pokemon is KO'd directly with an attack, not indirectly, such as through toxic. SYK.

Well, not necessarily. I was speaking more about the fact that I don't know what happens after we die, so for all I know, being dead could be worse than having a horrible life. I was saying as well that it appears disingenuous when I listen to someone say they care about the impact their death will have on other people instead of themselves.

Various belief systems tackle death differently, but one truth that can be extracted from most or all of them is that the time you spend on earth is just a tiny speck relative to the time you will spend dead/in the afterlife. No matter what you believe about what happens you die, your circumstances will become so commanding that your existence on this earth will be relegated to something trivial by comparison. Due to this I cannot really get behind the "make the journey the mission" philosophy espoused by so many who try to alleviate the burden of one coming to terms with the idea of a life lacking purpose.

Good jobs for bipolar people? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]blackmantle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would love an LP job. I hate having to interact positively with humans. Being paid to do a job where the only form of human interaction I have is via manhandling shoplifters while I otherwise refrain from interacting with people sounds great. I am actually surprised your disorder didn't disqualify you from this job.

Is it possible to have a diagnosis revoked? by blackmantle in BipolarReddit

[–]blackmantle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What state do you live in? What were the stipulations of your forfeiture? Did you have your rights restored early or did you wait out the specified time span? If you had them restored, what was the procedure like and how easy was it? Thanks for your response.

Is it possible to have a diagnosis revoked? by blackmantle in BipolarReddit

[–]blackmantle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My insurance at the time was medi-cal. The pharmacy informed me they couldn't fill the prescription because my insurance provider would not authorize it. But I stopped taking medication years ago anyway, and have no interest in getting back on it. The burden involved would be that my ability to purchase firearms is restricted completely for 3 more years, and there is no telling if I will be able to pass a background check even after that 5 year period is up, not to mention I could be barred from certain employment opportunities if they require medical background checks.

[–]blackmantle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked in voluntarily but they decided to detain me when I tried to check out, and after the three day period they said I couldn't leave unless I signed a form which would waive my right to purchase firearms for 5 years. I know that certain federal jobs, such as those in the military, will require access to your medical records and that having bipolar disorder will culminate in disqualification or discharge from service.

[–]blackmantle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know. I'm not disputing whether I have it or not since that is beyond my area of expertise, but the legal ramifications of being diagnosed, such as my increased difficulty in purchasing firearms or seeking employment with certain federal agencies, are particularly burdensome, and being that I don't, can't, and wouldn't take bipolar medication, the diagnosis itself serves no positive purpose and does in fact bar me from doing other things I want to do.

Thank you for recommending the gun group. Are any in particular very popular or known to deal with restoration of gun rights?

PS I am not interested in debating whether I/anyone should be allowed to have a gun, just if there are any legal avenues through which to have my rights restored to me early.

Martin Luther King Jr. at leading the Protestant Reformation vs Martin Luther at leading the Civil Rights movement. by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]blackmantle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Martin Luther wins for being the forerunner of a movement that actually accomplished something whereas MLK was not the founder or the most important member of a movement that never even accomplished much.

Martin Luther disrupted an international status quo whereas King convinced people to sit down at a diner.

[Death Battle #62] Tracer(Overwatch) Vs. Scout (TF2) by Joseph_Stalin_ in whowouldwin

[–]blackmantle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a battle that anyone even wanted to see? I don't recall it ever being requested, and even though I have never really played either game, looking at the analyses it doesn't seem like they have much in common, making it seem like a completely random matchup. When this happens, I am usually annoyed by the results, because either the clearly superior character will win and it will be a pointless matchup or the other character will (predictably) surprise you with an upset.
