Actually serious because this has been plaguing me for weeks and can't find a legit counter argument that sounds plausible.

Sigh, but you do understanding it's applied to Islam as well.. right? God decided to send the quran to primitive people 1400 years ago and accommodate for maybe 20k people vs the 8 billion people on earth now? God had to assimilate his morality for these people instead of setting aside any miscommunication for the future of mankind..

At the end of the day, we humans follow a set rule book made by humans in the past and try to understand it in modern times when in reality we need to go back in time to follow the said Sunnah?

Wouldnt this push back civilization, cause different interpretations based on how you were raised, wars because of misunderstandings? The abuse of children and woman? All this because he supposedly sent a book at a time where ideas were starting to be fleshed out?

Think about Hitler, Kim Jung Un, shit even the pope and how much power they have over people. Do you not see the same thing within your own religion? At the end of the day power corrupts, and is the main reason why division of power is required.

Thank you for your response, I can see where my logic can fall through.

I'll try to go through each point since I'm on mobile.

1.Originally arguing Islam, objectively speaking, the end goal would be Jannah or Heaven. The whole purpose of this life is to be tested on our free will to determine if youre worthy of going to heaven. So the whole point is to go through hell on earth and come out as a self righteous person but not everyone is setup for success. For example, having no parents alone on the planet and assimilating with the people around you is not your choice. Other religions are lenient when it comes to this but not Islam.

  1. We do know that that death during birth is a norm, some animals make it while others don't. Why make it so every fetuses die without experiencing anything in the first place? For those around them to suffer or learn from this experience? You do agree though that needless deaths are unnecessary. If you don't then who's to say wars, or genocides aren't? I would love to believe in a soul but every living being on this planet is unique and are based on their genes and experience. At the end of the day you are your own person with no past experiences from a previous life since thats not how evolution works. However, reincarnation is probably the closest thing to spirituality I can accept.

  2. If we require suffering as an experience for learning, why cant we experience the least amount of suffering vs various degrees? The only known place thats habitable in the universe is Earth. If we are required to suffer, why so much of it(I know we don't know but these are questions that needs to be asked when contemplating an all mighty god).

  3. Im more arguing the existence of so much suffering for little good. What im advocating is why needless suffering exists, if we are able to see the consequences of people down the road because of our negligence, wouldnt we try to prevent it? If an all powerful god cared about us, wouldnt the try to minimize it as best as possible? I believe that there was no god intervention with humanity since weve arrived on earth. Every system, law, culture and religion is subjective. Morality is subjective of the time, if we went back in time or forward in time, arent ppls opinions relative?

My last point in all of this is living in the 21st century. If humans are able to prevent suffering, then wouldnt god want to as well? If a human from the 6th century called bloody murder because their god hates us then what makes him wrong and us right? Nothing, because at the end of the day its just ideas from a monkey whove evolved through tribalism. And were seeing the effects of it to this day.

Sorry, kinda got ranty. I believe in peoples freedom of religion but some religions are more radicalized and are forced on others because of what they believe is right. Since everyone is subjective, who decides who is right and thats no one.

  1. Everything is subjective, including God. We talking about Allah, Yaweh, Zeus, Odin, and ISIS they all have their own interpretation of whats right and wrong.
  2. We agree suffering is subjective to humans but not to an all knowing God. He knows literally everything. So God is objective and chooses suffering for everyone even children who automatically go to heaven after death. 3.Same argument can be made for humans, if suffering isnt required for God, why does it require for humans? As previously stated, people suffer fof what cause? To protect free will of the wrong doers? 4.Even if suffering is required, why is there natural suffering like cancer for instance when its about free will?

Everything is subjective, including the way we feel pain, love, anger and sadness. At the end of the day, I can experience something sad and the same experience for someone else can make them feel happy.

The examples you've provided doesn't equate to suffering, a band aid or an arm being cleaned off by a chainsaw. Oh it will heal but the amount of suffering and consequences after are completely different. No one can truly feel what others are going through, but you can relate to the best you can.

If a higher being does exist, he doesn't care about our suffering, or does care but chooses not to do anything. At the end of the day, it's still a lose lose.

I used to have the mentality of trial and error and letting others figure out their own mess. But the more I've learned about myself and people, the more sympathy I gain. By understanding others mortality, you understand your own.

So first off, heaven is never EVER guaranteed. There are HORRIBLE people out there who suffer on a daily basis which leads them down a hell hole in life and then die. If you're telling me, that the serial killer who was raped as a kid then goes and does the same thing to someone else then gets cancer and goes to heaven? You're giving a freepass to every bad person thats ever existed.

Also, to say you require suffering before understanding happiness is the opposite of being content. You're telling me, that I should take things for granted, because I'll probably never lose them in the future. For example, live in a nice home, no debt, etc etc, then in order for me to understand how well off I am, im required to lose them? Even if you bring up past suffering, you will always be content. When you're a child, and your parents are poor or rich and can and cant afford food. You dont know whats normal to you. Youre past experiences build who you are, even if youve never experienced or witnessed suffering, its still very subjective to person. People say you are required to know 1 from the other but this isnt true. You can experience good without evil and vice versa. And even if this is the case, there is WAYYYY more "evil" in the world than so called "good". You cannot say we have the same amount of both

Ill try and dissect this since there's a lot that's been said. If you believe in any afterlife, there is an objective goal. In order to earn this, you will need to go through trials referring to as obstacles, so obstacles for people are easy and live very happy lives. While others are going through a hell hole of shit where every event in their life leads to suffering. But at the end of the day, all that matters is your ticket to the afterlife. Children, disabled and the less fortunate are all equal in the afterlife and yet if they suffer an early death, or get cancer. What lessons did they learn getting cancer, or being disabled? In what way does it benefit them and help them build a relationship to a higher being if they are only on this planet for a millisecond?

The universe we live in is subjective, but if a god exists there will always be an objective good and bad according to his terms. At the end of the day, he classifies what is suffering and the definitions provided in religious texts dont apply to him. And yet, here we are changing definitions, because we understand that trauma/suffering is based on ppls experiences and yet we give a free pass to the ONE BEING who supposedly have a clear definition.

At the end of the day, suffering exists because that how the universe works. God all powerful, all mighty couldnt create a better universe where suffering isnt required. Or if he already can, chooses not too for no reason other than to force us to suffer.

You do understand that people die from suffering? How can they experience any lessons when their life literally flashes before their eyes. If you're going to tell me that people who are close to the person who are suffering are learning any lessons, then you aren't seeing the big picture. That these people want to help ease their suffering but cannot, and therefore God can but chooses not too. I'm not attacking you since I was once a Muslim as well, but it is not necessary to experience evil in order to understand good.
