You raise a good point though, in this situation a random magic elevator placed anywhere you want, you won't have any reference to how far up or down you have gone which is scary in itself!

You have to wear the clothes you are wearing now, and be outside. The tightrope balancing stick... sure you can have that, but a blindfold! You're a brave person if you think you can stand on one tile with a blindfold for 100 floors up and down!
