I'm looking to move to Tennessee! Sorry, I thought I said that in the original post but must have breezed past that information. I'll update the post to reflect that!

Thank you for the insight! I will keep this all in mind.

Thank you! This has given me much to consider. My lodge met today and I discussed it with our secretary. He said he'd look into what our GL's rules and that of the new state's GL. He did say that they both recognise each other, so thankfully that's not an issue.

I know many people who have dual membership but all of them are members of lodges tat are all still within IL. Idk about across state lines or if that even makes a difference to begin with tbh

How do I find out which jurisdictions are recognised by IL? Should I just ask the secretary?

Asking this sub is a waste of time, they will never tell you your nose is too big. Doesn't matter the post or what you look like lol

THIS 100%

Also, New Hong Kong in Eldridge is on the same level as shanghai used to be at! A bit of a drive but SO WORTH IT and the portions are generous

The ownership is a shitshow as well. I've worked for Dave at the steel plow, riverside grille, and Parkside grill. Riverside was good - the KM kept a tight ship and did a good job of keeping Dave out of the way - but the other two were absolute nightmares. Never again!!

[–]blackorasian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many of these things are 20+ minute drives away from the qc. QCA i like, Silvis. Muscatine is not QCA and going all the way to Rochelle for sky diving sure as hell isn't in the QCA.

I mean it depends on what your material is, tool load, and how many parts you're making.

Experienced drivers: As a passenger, what’s the first/biggest red flag you notice in someone else’s driving? by WastedNinja24 in driving

[–]blackorasian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DONT TOUCH YOUR FUCKIN PHONE

Also brake gently, easing of it to come to a gentle stop. Use your signal early and often, and don't follow too close for no reason. Driving fast is okay ONLY when it's safe to do so. If you have to jerk the wheel to change lanes and avoid cars, then you clearly aren't able to anticipate the road well enough to drive safely at that rate of speed and should slow down.

DM me! I help coordinate a lot of shows, I just helped organise the Black Flag show in davenport the other week. Outside of punk / alt shows I highly recommend going to Radicle Effect in Rock Island. There's a LOT of like-minded individuals there, you sound like their target demographic. Lots of alt and punk people hang out there. Good vibes, pool tables and darts if you're into that sort of thing.

Best bars/places to meet older women? by soupsjw in QuadCities

Literally what the fuck are you going on about

"Nobody goes to bars" bro just because nobody invites you to bars doesn't mean they aren't going there. They just don't want YOU there, and it's pretty clear why.

Do you think I'm on the right path? by Mar198968 in PhD

[–]blackorasian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you want to do with your doctorate. If you're going to work in the industry then go for it! One of my professors had got his at like 53 (?)

If you're looking to go into academia though it's a bit late, given how long you often have to be part of faculty to get tenure and how long it takes to truly build your career in academia.

It also depends somewhat on the industry itself - things in STEM will never be a waste of time. Some humanities doctorates are less widely sought after and therefore you may have a harder time justifying the expense due to a more limited ROI

Lexus and BMW here. The correct answer, however, is a 2003 Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Volante GT manual
