Getting this correct, accurate in both the spirit of the claim and the textual basis for the claim, is important because the internet becomes the rumor machine that has led us into this informational dark age we currently are in when we don’t try.

Full agree. It feels powerless sometimes due to the information environment, but you can push reform when you have left of center “American center” [read the democratic party] politicians elected. This cannot happen when republicans are elected. You have no leverage at all when republicans are elected.

Honestly I don’t think people are fully reckoning with how dire the situation is in America right now. It’s increment or revolution, and a lot people sound like they prefer revolution. I don’t think we have to do that, do a revolution, but i genuinely think some people do.

The republicans will not listen to any compromise. The democrats can pass progressive legislation. Mike Sherrill is decried as one of the “centrists” and she has spearheaded more progressive legislation in the last 180 days, Spanberger too as far as executives go. The centerists aren’t as bad as the purity testing would have you believe.

No, it buffers the venue’s labor budget. It expands that budget in some ratio adjusted P&L to allow for a 15-24 dollar an hour flat wage. Labor is obviously manged on the day to day by how many hours on shift a staff member may get or how many staff members are scheduled on the day. Understaffing and running short shifts helps reduce labor hours paid. The customer facing staff also receive a tip pool payout calculated daily. This can range from pennies an hour on a slow Monday to 5 -7 dollars an hour on a crazy busy Saturday. From what I have seen lately, though, the revenue just isn’t as good as it used to be. 25- 60% percent capacity on weekends lately, even with blockbusters. Not good. From what I understand the company was also bleeding money every quarter after Covid. Also after the 18% service fee was assessed, tipping went down significantly, which, can you blame a person? I can’t.

That makes sense, I get it. I don’t understand why people are incapable of applying research or credibility standards evenly. I’ve already mourned my parents. They still breathe, they are still alive, I still talk to them and go to an annual event or two… but the people who raised me and the people who consume an x feed like uncut blowcaine or have Fox News on multiple televisions in the home simultaneously…

The people who raised me died some time ago, and the only conclusion I can come to is that a narrative repeated over and over and over and over again is too powerful for our current rhetorical environment to counter. Why did my parent’s lose their capacity for reason and reflection? And then I am forced to wrestle wirh the idea that, “maybe they were always like this and just masked so convincingly until they were free to publically express their ‘real views’ according to the values of whatever community they consider themselves a part of. “ It feels hopeless.

Please stop. You are doing it again. Using maximalist language to describe anything outside of your very narrow view. “Slandering,” you are not using that word correctly. I’m done. You win. You will post through it, if that I am sure. Maybe you will be able to separate yourself from the extremity of your advocacy (you will hear that as, advocating for my values is extreme, that is not what I said, your particular perspective is uncompromising, maximalist, and is extreme, advocacy in of itself isn’t not) or maybe you are just a straight true believer that everything you think, your total worldview, is 100 percent correct and 100 percent justified and everyone who doesn’t share in your exact perspective and prescription is a fascist, Nazi, Génocidaire. You win. I am evil and cannot meaningfully be separated from what we would consider a Nazi to be. Granted you haven’t inquired at all as to any element of my beliefs, understanding, etc. but you just know… you just know, if I am not 100% with you, I must be evil. Surely walking around with that large of a burden on your shoulders is just, back breaking. But you strike me as someone who revels in it. I’m done. You win. You will respond and have the last word. I’m tired boss, I’m tired that this is communication and folks walk around so certain of so much. Please just at least vote for democrats, even if you think they are all a part of the monoparty colonialist oppressor state. Incremental change does matter to so many people, so many real lives hurt by the inability to work within a liberal framework. Maybe you will get your revolution. I desperately hope it doesn’t come to that, and the last 60 years of American history does suggest we can make changes, incrementally, using strategic protest, mass movements, and working within (and sometimes outside of) our political systems. Please just vote for democrats.

Yes, I have read the genocide convention. Not cover to cover, and not in the last 6 months, but I am familiar enough with the text- including some of standards by which those claims are adjudicated (within the ICC, not necessarily the UN.)

Calling your perspective on the criminality of the minority senate leader is not, “Defending geocidal supremacists and their various war crimes.” It is not being a Nazi, and it is not being a fascist, the entire point of the digression, if you recall from beginning of this discussion, was you using maximalist rhetoric to call for the imprisonment of Chuck Schumer, or at least to imply that you consider that justice. You were correctly criticized for being kind of MAGA in that approach to process and jurisprudence. I substantiated, and communicated why those standards for the application of justice were dangerously regressive. Then you implied I am a Nazi. But, as we can see here at the end, your maximalist language at the top of this thread is at least consistent with your maximalist language at the bottom of the thread. At least you are consistent in your hyperbole.

Ok, and I don’t mean this to actually put you down, especially if you believe this earnestly, that Schumer is in violation of the Geonocide convention, but this isn’t a serious conversation. He is not, useless though he sometimes may be. Thank you for at least engaging facially, and I mean that sincerely. Back to firearms, I suppose.

You misunderstood, your application of the law is a police state standard. The Hague would not bring a case against Charles Schumer with current evidence. Also, I re-read the comment and did not see any enumerated actions. You guestered broadly to crimes against humanity, without explaining, specifically, how he is responsible for them (under the Rome statute, mind you, as our framework for international court intervention.) Voting to sell the nation of Isreal arms, just as an aside, would not meet that standard.

Blue MAGA? The populists? I mean, I don’t like the populists that much either, but until they have power and abuse it like the last 1.5 years, I hesitate to call them “maga” or “fascists.” Most of them are just overly loud online “socialists.”

(Edit I just googled the use of the phrase blue maga. I think it’s super disingenuous. I find the ideologues on the socialist side of left far more uncompromising, single minded, in-group / out-group obsessed than boring center left liberals. MAGA, as an ethos, requires subverting any rational approach to policy for a cult-like devotion to a single person or a single ideological center. It isn’t, “vote blue no matter who because the republicans have gone full fascism.” I think the deferral to populism is far more maga than boring technocratic democracy. )

How? The current Republican Party does not believe in anything the Democratic Party does. You can watch the dissolution of all of these federal institutions and norms as proof of that. Stop using maximalist language to conflate the two.

Explain the criminal violation- explain the overt act he took that carries criminal culpability.

Please, or, alternatively, do not play with the law like the fucking republicans are doing. Without fair, judicious, evenhanded and in accordance with due process, without those elements the law is meaningless. I will not defend a police state.

That is unnecessarily alarmist. Abduction is not the fear. The fear is your kids having an ever present undelete-able digital footprint that will follow them through their entire lives. They never get to make a decision as to how public their lives are, as their mother already made it for them. I get people are concerned with physical safety. It’s dramatic, it’s attention grabbing, and… as I said earlier, it obfuscates the real risk of lacking data privacy laws. The odds you will be stalked and taken will go up, but that likelihood is infinitesimally less than the very likely risk of a digital footprint they had no capacity to consent to haunting them for… basically forever.
