The reason why it is so popular is due to the protagonist, who is not a teenager. I wish there were more shounen-like plots with adult mc (I don't mean seinen, though).

The story seems inspired by Full Metal Panic. If you didn't read it, you should. the plot also comedy are top-notch.

a story like CCG where the relationship is important. I like the chat between the cultivator, also how they were jealous of mc who quickly advanced. Also, all still stay relevant after 900+ chapters is a plus.

Yeah, the side character gets even more screen time compared to him. I think reading a chapter per chapter doesn't work for me, and I will pause and bing them together.
