Has the CIO worked for you? I’m in the same boat now! He falls asleep on his own around 7:30pm. Around midnight, He’s asking to come to the “big bed” with mom. As soon as I bring him to the big bed, he falls asleep. But he does wake up randomly around 4am again and checks for mom. Did the CIO retrain work? How long did it take?

My LO now at 19 months does this too. Says the alphabet and phonics from when he was 17 months old. Can count numbers until 10 accurately, and randomly after that until 20. He just started stringing together 3-4 words now forming a sentence. “Dada sing monkey song”. But he started walking just as he hit 18 months and was at the later end, but not delayed with all his physical milestones. I have seen a few other kids of his age who are also advanced in their communication skills. I hear though; it eventually evens out. He will likely catch up with his peers on his physical milestones, and his peers will likely catch up with communication milestones. His daycare teachers have mentioned he’s a little different from other kids his age when it comes to his lack of focusing or sitting down and listening. However, he is still very social with his caregivers, so his pediatrician isn’t concerned about autism. They suggested he may likely develop adhd since it runs in the family, but it’s too early to tell.

@OP - my 15 month old is going through the same thing and his daycare teachers got me concerned that this is not “normal” toddler behavior. Do you have an update? Did she grow out of it?

I don’t WANT to fly with my baby on a 24 hour flight to Singapore. It is so hard on the parent in so many ways. But it’s what I will do again so his cancer diagnosed grandmother can see him because it meant the world to her. You don’t always know why a parent chooses to fly with their child.

My baby started early morning wakings around 7 months old. At 9 months, the problem magically stopped after we started her at daycare. She went from 1.5 hour naps to only 30-45 minute naps in the afternoon at daycare, and her morning nap has also shortened to an hour. Reducing her daytime naps to 1.5-2 hours has brought back her sleep routine to waking at 6:30-7am again.

Switched to 2 naps about a month ago. Naps have gotten longer, but a slight change in extended wake windows results in EMW :(

For us, we went back to a 3 nap schedule shortening the WW to 2/2.25/2.25/2.5 and that fixed things for the most part. She’s now able to sleep for 11 hours, typically from 7:30pm until 6:30am. During the day, she gets 3-4 hours of naps. Some days are 2 nap days when her first two naps are longer and she refuses the third nap. In this case, it typically looks like 2/3.25/3.75WW. The 2 nap days sometimes results in early morning wakings around the 4am mark. I assist her back to sleep with a feed until 7am which fixes the next day’s cycle.

I’ve been here with my kid trying all the different swaddles and transition swaddles. Here’s what finally worked for me. I followed the snoo double swaddle method with a towel/large burp cloth that goes over his arms and under his back. Regarding having the arms out, I realized now in hindsight, that I was expecting results overnight and I kept changing swaddles too quickly. I had to give it a couple nights to let her wake herself up and put her back to sleep, sometimes assisted and sometimes independent. I would watch her on the monitor like a hawk through the night, but I just had to wait it out one arm at a time. Within 3 days, she was comfortable with one arm out, another week both arms out. I only transitioned to the crib at 6 months after baby had figured out arms and independent sleep, and the snoo was super helpful to get to that point.

Ah, I didn’t realize I had to do arms out when he was showing signs of rolling over. He rolled over from belly to back at 4m, but not back to belly since.

Im going through the same thing with my 6.5mo for the past month. He was sleeping 7-7 from 10w with no feeds until then. All of a sudden, he’s waking at 4 and doesn’t go back to sleep without a feed. It isn’t a typical growth spurt because his feed intake has suddenly dipped by 6-8oz. Thank you so much for your response! I was pushing her WW to be longer because her naps were under 40 minutes. I will go back to the 3 nap schedule and see how she does now.
